You hit on many of the main differences between the 3 and Y. I would say if you only can have one car, take the Y. If you already have an SUV for the family, get the 3. It drives better.

I've got a 2023 Model Y and Model 3. He pretty much nails the differences. One thing not mentioned is I find the Model Y a lot easier to get in and out of since the seat seems like a foot above the model 3. I drive the Model Y and my son drives the Model 3. The model 3 is a base model in black while the model 3 is a long range in black with upgraded wheels. The model Y cost me about $14k more than the 3 bottom line.

One major difference that is not accounted for is that the Model 3 is much more agile. Also, the Model 3's wheels have a smaller radius resulting in a noticeably tighter turn. But the Model Y is much better in terms of general utility. If you're okay with dropping that race car feeling (which isn't necessary most of the time), then just go with Model Y Long Range.

Tesla has an “Easy Access” mode, when you have parked your brand new Tesla n just about to open the door, your seat will automatically side back electronically…to make real easy for you to get outta car. Love it! When you get on board, your seat will move your body into position together with everything customised to your preselected preferences, every time you get on board! Nice isn’t it. Even the side mirrors will adjust to your preference, the cabin temperature selection, etc. can’t get anymore welcoming than that huh! If you’re willing to buy more software like FSD, your brand new Tesla will even drive you to your destination automatically.

From what I’ve heard the newer version of the model y will have the same body style but upgraded computer system, hardware 4. So if you care about having the latest hardware then waiting might not be a bad idea. The current price point still makes the current version a great buy.

The Y changed was in 2021. Waste money on the 3. 3 is like a Toyota camery or accords. The trunk is useless in a 3.

When I purchased my 3, the Y didn’t exist; and I purchased a Y because I needed more space. Both are still my daily drivers and there are good use cases for both cars depending on what you’re looking for.

I disagree cos I don’t usually take my kitchen sink when I go driving. There’s plenty of room, definitely much more than my Honda CRV. Another ‘minor’ thing you won’t find out until you have owned both 3 n Y for awhile. Bcos of the higher model Y than M3, your centre of gravity is also higher. Guess what? You’ll appreciate a model 3 much better when you go round corners, bends etc, so much less sway, M3 hugs onto da road ! 😂
