In this fourth Dell computer destruction video, we check out a classic children's game, and then slowly rip the computer apart piece by piece until it finally quits working.

the capacitors are mostly for timing and electrical stability, older systems can operate without them, but may become unstable. Also, the way caps are wired electrically, shorting the contacts will short the circuit they are on, which is why the PSU tripped on overcurrent protection.

And also the cmos battery's for real time clocks, but without the cmos battery the date and time will reset, and all bios settings to factory defaults. No joke. Also the ram what makes the computer run more programs, but with one removed causing the computer to be slow. Less programs can be opened but may say that there isn't enough memory to run the program that it's trying to open. Even Google chrome tabs eat up a lot of memory. But with one stick removed when your PC is on can cause corrupted video issues until you restart your computer, but may encounter an error message saying "Ram Size decreased" or a beep code meaning no ram sticks were found. Also the hard drive is for keeping files for your computer, but without the hard drive. It won't boot the operating system that's installed on the hard drive, like let's say an example: the computer will do a Power on self test. If it's all good then the computer will boot from the hard drive. But if the Power on self test is not good. It will beep twice if any errors occur. (like for example: RAM stick removed, Cmos battery bad, etc), After the POST is complete or failed by pressing F1 to continue it may boot the operating system thats installed on the hard drive. But if the hard drive isn't plugged in or isn't there on the motherboard the computer will give out a error message on the screen that says "No Bootable device found" until you plug into the hard drive.

So if they pull a capacitor it's like tripping a breaker right?
@JoeNuttss7 ай бұрын
@@roastortoastjustgivememost2384 pretty much, yeah. The system itself detects a short-circuit, and will shut itself off to prevent damage to the system, a lot like how a breaker works. although physically they both work differently

I planed on making this one more slow and meticulous from the start because I know that my last computer destruction video was a bit of a disappointment to some of my viewers giving that it was destroyed to fast and without closely monitoring the computers reaction. I was planing on messing with things like the memory and hard drive which I did in the video, but your capacitor idea stood out and I knew I wanted to include it in the video.
@daylightbigboy9 жыл бұрын
Shawn K Yep. I actually had no idea what they were for but now that I learned what they are for, it makes sense. I have been playing with gates and such with my breadboard so I can see why they are needed. I guess the computer lasts longer and is more efficient with them. Thanks for using my idea! I wonder what happens if you use a MOT and connect the ground to the case and use the positive to zap some components.

When you pull of capacitors, it is random when it fails. You used a metal tool to cut the caps off the board, the reboots are because you shorted out the traces. Caps mainly filter power.

Could you imagine playing this while on Shrooms? That would be WAY cool. See the little animals come out of the screen on to your desk...etc.

13:06 "We didn't even make it to ten!" Actually, I counted as I was watching and you pretty much did make it to ten, so it takes ten capacitors to pull off to break a Dell OptiPlex 755 Series PC.
