Okay, my second Latitude D630 with a no boot issue started up again using this simple technique. I inherited a couple of older laptops from someone in the area, two of them wouldn't boot up. This particular laptop had been sitting for years, no backlight, and had only a couple lights when pressing the power button, but no DELL logo. After doing the same power on / off / power on / off / power on, this morning it started coming alive again and booted up okay. After it booted up it showed the config error message, but that was related to no date / time set. After setting the date / time the computer worked great, it is working again. Spent zero dollars to fix it, only a handful of patient minutes. My oldest son was next to me and he said 'oh that is so stupid it isn't going to work', and then within a few minutes it booted up. Ha ha... I'm convinced that this is a good option to wake up a dead computer. Just gotta be very patient, and keep trying.

DUDE...IT FRICKING WORKED!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU Dell Latitude D630 Windows XP. Took like 12 minutes of pressing it on and off. Was working fine but the cord came out and when I plugged it back up, screen remained black. Tried everything else that you see in the other videos (press and hold the power button for 30, 60, 120 seconds, reinsert the ram, plug up external monitor, press the f8 button, etc, etc.,) None of it worked, but this did.

for future reference you can actually pop the hard drive out of the computer on the left side without even taking it apart. you just have to remove one screw on the bottom. its located on the front left side of the computer. I popped my ine and put it in anothe rdell d630 and it ran just fun. so you can run the hard disk on another d620 or d630. and these days you can buy that computer for like 80-100 bucks. so worse case scenario you can get your data back for 80-100 bucks just buy a new d620-d630 ( used new )

@@kennethpappas oh dear, looks like you might need a new battery. If battery is destroyed, this could be causing your issue, as there is triggers that stop hardware from performing their actions, especially if it detects battery issues, as you need battery and power attached for some programming functions internally. Try running with battery out and power supply in, to see if it works Could possibly be battery issue also.

@SeanChrist-i5e not sure if you need a new battery, my computer had a blown capacitor on the motherboard that caused the problem. Charge your battery then check power level on battery pack by pressing the button on the battery. If your charger is not working try changing the fuse on your charger. But if you have the same problem as me, you might have a damaged capacitor on your motherboard. The only way to fix is computer repair shop, my one was going to be too expensive to repair so I just bought a new laptop. Dear, I have same problem with same model. Where is the problem? Is this Battery Problem or Motherboard problem ?
@oraclescave5 жыл бұрын
Nobody has any idea, some say it's the power Jack in the back of the laptop, others say its the motherboard. I personally feel like it's a capacitor on the board somewhere, because doing this method seems to charge it up into working, sort of like jump starting a car. But the fact that plugging in the power cable can make it die, does point to the power Jack. Unfortunately I font have a solid answer for you, best thing to do is try this method a few times in the hope it will turn on so you can retrieve any stuff you have stored onto a flash drive or something. But as far as I know nobody has a fix for it, and the price for a computer technician to check it out, you would be cheaper buying a brand new high spec laptop. 👍👍👍👍

Black AK there is usually a PASTE that dissipatates heat, that goes between things and when it gets old and useless, the "overheating shut off switch" kicks in instantly and sends a shutdown code to stop any damage from overheating.. Hi there, a quick note in the hope that it helps someone out there - I had a D620 with these exact symptoms, tried the method here and unfortunately it didn't work for me. So I opened it up and determined that the SMD capacitor labelled PC252 had shorted (the tall one near the power inlet, you can see it poking through the palm rest, next to the CMOS battery, with just the keyboard removed). PC252 is a 100uF 25V electrolytic, in case the markings aren't clear. I replaced that with a new capacitor and the D620 burst back into life :) Hope this helps!

Aaron Villescas then I would suggest dead cells in your battery, search for battery issues and blinking lights. Could be other things but usually if battery is blinking the sensors inside have detected issues in one or more cells. Hope this helps your search

Follow the steps below: Turn off the machine and remove all attached accessories. Make sure there is no power supply connected to the machine (if the battery is removable, remove it as well). Press the on / off button for about 1 minute (nothing will happen to the device during the process). Reconnect the device and turn it on. Soon, the power drain process will be completed successfully.

Yes, this is just a static removal technique. This may help some people, but the problem that my issue corrects, is a motherboard issue.

Still on d830 xp original... I could guess what it could be but it would only be a guess... anyway, if your drive is not encrypted, you can slave your drive by another computer directly or by dongle to access your data... if you have a 2nd laptop you maybe able to swap the drive. Killing the laptop with power supply means you have a short on the board ... usually a capacitor.. considering the other symptoms it's probably a can.. too late for you but someone may need the info.. ebay sometimes has cheap motherboards you can swap... just be careful of static.. other videos can explain

It looks like the laptop is a bin job but all your pictures and files etc will be stored on the hard drive which simply slides out the laptop Base. Plug this into a hdd/USB cable then plug it into a working computer and retrieve your files. A ten minute job that won't cost you more than a £5 for the connecting cable.

What happens when your laptop us on already, and pressed the power button? I have the same problem, and i managed to turn it on by just leaving it with batteries removed for a long time, and when i put the batteries on, it automatically powered up without presseing the power button. And when i tried to press the power button it gave no response neither. So i checked whats set to the power button, set it to sleep or reboot, and pressed the powered button, but still bothing happened... What do you think happened? Thanks.
@oraclescave6 жыл бұрын
Vincent Brian Ferrer , I think your power button might be faulty. The only way for your laptop to turn itself on when battery installed, is a short in the system, the fact your computer does not do anything when you press power button, tells me your power button is faulty. Please check online for replacement power button, you might find it's a common fault on your computer. Hope you get it fixed, easy repair
@vonbrian6 жыл бұрын
ORACLE'S CAVE , my friends thought of it too, i also have suspected that the cmos battery is dead, because the time i put the main battery or plugged the charger, the time and date has changed back, so i have to set it up also. What do you think bro? Btw. Thanks for the reply...
@oraclescave6 жыл бұрын
Vincent Brian Ferrer yes you need to update time and date or your computer will not work properly. Out of date... Time & date, causes all sorts of problems, but if your computer comes on without touching power button, then your power button must have shorted out on itself, it might be an easy and cheap fix to do it yourself. Just Google search your laptop model for power button failure and repairs and you might be able to use videos to repair it But always keep time and date correct as the computer uses these for memory and can mess stuff up, but I don't think the time and date would cause it to come on without pressing power button, definitely think your power button is faulty. Hope you find an easy fix because repair shops are worse than car mechanics for ripping people off

That's what the video was for, it shows you what to do, just press the power button to turn on, and when the light goes out, just press the button again. Make sure your battery is fully charged, and do not leave the power cable connected when trying to turn on, make sure only charged battery is connected when trying to turn on.

Connor Coleman have you tried.... Resetting your time and date, or updating your bios, or taking out your battery and power supply and holding down your power button for a few moments and then reconnect everything. Try these methods and it might help, you could also try taking out your memory card and re-inserting it again also.

Charge your battery fully and remove the power cord, only try to turn on with no power cord attached. Power cord causes the problem when connected,plugged in. Turn on, let it cut out or lights blink out. Then repeat. You should start to see more lights or things start to happen. My first attempt took hundreds of tries doing the same thing.

@@abdelaliboujnane6920 most problems on these laptops always come from the power Jack area. I think you might be out of luck unless you get a battery. If you don't have anything super important in the laptop, my suggestion would be to give up with that laptop. But if you need stuff from inside it, battery is the only way, and that might not work either. But it's worth a try for something important. Other than that maybe a repair shop, but they are worse than mechanics and you would be cheaper buying another used laptop.
