If these older laptops have never been repasted, it's worth doing to reduce temperatures and fan noise. If they've never had Windows fresh installed without Dell bloatware, it's also worth doing. These two maintenance items greatly reduced temps and increased battery life on my Vostro 7590. From a longevity standpoint, these laptops are still workhorses and have a ton of upgradability. I'd imagine that the WiFi card, SSD and RAM are all upgradable. I like how it has a docking station connector on the bottom as well as it's port selection on the back so that wires are hidden from view when plugged in. I can't believe Dell gave you any trade in credit at all, that's hilarious. I'd expect Dell to simply say, "recycle it."

You are 100 % right! But I think upgrading 7 years old computer makes no sense at least here in the US. If you got this laptop for free you buy a new SSD, Wi-Fi, Ram that’s least $100. If you need to buy this and do all these upgrades, you are at $200-$300 plus hours worth of time looking for parts and replacing them. At the end still no webcam, still just an HD screen and you still have 7 years computer worth pretty much the same. Any new Inspiron for $279 will be significantly better than this option.

Thus far its been a great laptop (E5470), done everything i need it to do. It was either this or something brand new with a intel Celeron within the price range so i opted for this. Brought a laptop a couple f years ago which was brand new, absolutely terrible , again intel Celeron and was slower and could barely get anything done, ended up having to reinstall windows and then coupe of days later went turn it on and it failed o boot. Ended up with a refund in the end. So when selecting a laptop, didn't have massive amounts of money to spend, found this one, was avoiding Celerons like the plague and thus far its been a great laptop.

The only place so far I found the celeron completely usable is a Chromebook or a firewall appliance like pfsense.

I'm getting a new battery to replace to the Dell e4570 it should keep going for 6 hours. My battery is on its last legs were only get 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Dell has the Inspiron on sale for $279 i3 8GB , 250 ssd full HD screen, I would get that. If you have some extra funds I would go for the same laptop with the core i5 cpu. If you have a Best Buy store nearby, I would check the open box laptops. Sometimes you can save a lot on those and they still comes with a factory warranty.

If you hit the windows button, it will bring up the search, type “display settings” Under display resolution, click on the setting and go all the way to the top (recommended) Does this help? If not, please let me know your laptop model number and current display resolution .

@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. The resolution is 1920 x 1080 and that's fine, but the image doesn't reach the very edges of the screen, could it be because of the touch screen? The laptop model is the same as in the video Dell latitude E5470
