Just picked up 2 Dell Optiplex 380 pcs even has a Q9650 in and 2gb ram plus HDD not bad for free I think they work fine.

I'm currently running a Xeon E5450 (modded from 771 to 775) in my 330. 12MB of L2 Cache, 3.0GHz, 1.066GHz FSB. Even with 4GB of memory and a solid state drive, the performance improvement was dramatic, to say the least.

no this pc uses an lga 775 cpu socket, they usually only support up to a core 2 quad or some xeons with modifications

I got a problem in my cpu so if you could plz help me to solve it? Before the switch button was turning green and it was working and but now it is staying in orange and it's not working. Also my keyboard,mouse and monitor is not working as well from this cpu but they are working from another cpu when i tried to check if they also are not broken... Will wait for your help

My Dell Optiplex 380 took 8GB of RAM just fine. The Intel G41 chipset certainly supports it. Install it as 2x4GB DIMMs

DDR3 ? surely you mean DDR2 as i have one of these and it dont have DDR3 ram,also now in 2020 these machines are only good for basic web browsing, most of us mere mortals have upgraded to the Optiplex 980 now , lol

A) this system took DDR3 RAM. I know because I installed it and it worked. b) this is not a new video. Check the date before you speak. Tis better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt...

Yes, although you would have to mod the case or get a different one; but that involves modifications to the front panel connector panel (power button, audio jacks, and the 2 front USB ports). If you do an open build, you won't have any issues at all, though.

@@Chris-tk9hy The front panel connector cable is what made it impossible. Looks like an old ATA cable. I've successfully modded this motherboard, power button, and USB/Speaker slot into another case... had to do some custom fabrication to make that USB/Audio jacks panel fit in, but yeah, other than that, it was straight forward. I swapped out the stock Dell Heat Sink and fan for a Cooler Master 771/775 socket with the ventilation pipes and the fan that attaches to the radiator. Worked out quite nicely. The case was a Corsair Carbide Black Steel.
