You can also install the SSD under the optical drive bay. There is a slot for a floppy drive. I think it should fit.

I have one of these with 750 watt 80+ PSU, 32 gigs of Corsair Vengeance RAM, 2x 500gb SSDs, a 4 Tb gaming Hard Drive, i7 3770 & just added a R9 Nano to it. I had to pull the RAM & the Video Card in & out several times to get it to Boot but is solid now. Very pleased. I did add a 120mm Fan inside the case though.

I've just installed today on the very same unit, 9020 , a AMD Rx 480 sapphire nitro+ 8 Gb and a EVGA 500w GD psu.The GPU fitted just about perfect ,and I didn't have to remove the HDD cage(as seen on others).Wanted the Rx 580 nitro+,but as I've checked the dimensions it turned out that the 580 what a little bit longer so I just went for the 480. The psu ,5 min install,simple.Tested few games ,NFS Payback ,Metro 2033 Redux, Apex Legends,some Dirt Rally (nothing fancy,more to come),all on ultra ,60 fps or even more .I got the i7 4790 non K ,with 12 Gb ddr 1600 .The whole system with the upgrades cost me about 285 £.I got the tower unit (CPU,MB,RAM,250 gb SSD ,500 Gb HDD,Wi-fi card) for 130£ ,the PSU 50£,and the rx 480 for 99£ .Overall ,as a casual gamer I think it will be enough for now.I'll be changing the CPU cooler as well in the future as I find it running a bit hot after some gaming.

DELL OPTIPLEX 9010 ~ Truly a AMAZING computer for VERY reasonable money! SO nice I made it my home server. THANK YOU for the "blue slot" (PCIe) advice too.. APPLAUSE and Thumbs UP! Thanks for the video, quite informative. For the past few months been debating on what used PC to get for some gaming and audio production since I can't afford any new equipment at the moment. I've been looking at an Optiplex 9020 because it supports 4th gen Haswell but a little beyond my budget right now and at a HP Z230 which seems to be a nice workstation but worried a lot about proprietary parts that may not be possible to upgrade or swap out. I'm most familiar with Dell since I've had a couple of workhorses that served me well for a long time. Could you give me any suggestions? You don't even need a caddy because an ssd dosent have any moving parts. You can also just use the L shaped sata cable

I didn't want to spend time out of my day and gas money just to buy a small cable, I didn't want to install windows on my HDD while I waited a day or two for the cable to arrive either. It took 10 minutes, I also took a piece of sand paper to wear down the edges of the notch I made, it even looks like that's how it was made.

The SFF case only supports half height GPUs, so your choices are (realistically) limited to the GT 1030, GTX 1050 and Ti although I'm personally waiting for next-gen budget NVidia cards (and I would recommend you wait too).

I'm going to try one more time - I bought a 9010 and a 9020. For the 9010 I installed a Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4gb 'Windforce' but the drivers would not recognize any "hardware that was compatible with the drivers" and it would not show up in Device Manager. I was going to try a Dell NVidia GeForce GTX 745 4GB - since it was a Dell Nvidia I figure it should work. Went to download the drivers from the Dell site - it asked me to put in the service Tags - neither machine said it was compatible. Got any suggestions? If you are willing to change the power supply, the best GPU that wont be badly bottlenecked is the RX 470/570. If you want a 75w card, the best is a GTX 1050 Ti although those are way over MSRP where I live

it fits 4 x 8GB. If you use all 4 slots AND a GPU, though, you could have power problems, so maybe disconnect the optical drive and only use one hard drive (an SSD). At least, that is what I read and will do

no, the 9010 sff has a pci-e power limit of 50watts whereas the standard power draw of most gpu's, including the 570, from the slot is 75w.

Yes that video card is for autocad and you can play some old games on it and will not fit dell optiplex mini tower unless if you remove hard drive cage you have to cut it using tools.
