After looking for months I found very little build or review videos of PC systems (chip -motherboard -memory) just geared towards 3D modeling for Automotive design production and product rendering. A system specifically for industrial designers with a budget of $500-600 for the motherboard and $400-500 for the chip. Not sure if ECC is the way to go and want to get the best motherboard for this specific with no bottlenecks on the board. Industrial designer’s 3D Modeling workstation software: Alias Autodesk Alias' listed system requirements looks to benefit from several CPU cores, so going with a higher core count processor looks to be beneficial. www.autodesk.com/products/alias-products/overview?plc=ALSCPT&term=1-YEAR&support=ADVANCED&quantity=1 Keyshot In my testing of Keyshot I saw that it is a very well multi-threaded program, benefiting from more CPU cores, so going with a higher core count, the better the performance I will have. www.keyshot.com/ Here is what I’ve gathered so far... Industrial Designer 3D Modeling System mins: 1. Winders 10, 64 BIT. 2. 3GHz min 64 bit chip needed for Alias. 3. Multicore processor. 4. 8 Gig of ram minimum push for 256mb on motherboard. 5. Turbo/Hyperthreading preferred. 6. I have a P4000 Invidia Quadro. 7. 256 texture graphics memory min. 8. No crazy LEDs, or a gaming rig wanted. 9. This machine sits under my desk and is never touched……my last machine lasted 7 years without error. 10. With that said I’d like a motherboard that is geared towards setting it on turbo and not touching it. 11. Motherboard needs numerous connection headers for fans and a single SSD drive, out of the way of the Quadro Card. 12. I don’t need 6 hard drives and turbo fast speeds to other machines, devices or data centers. 13. Just a standalone rendering and 3D modeling beast. 14. A full size case with “massive cooling” as its key selling point. 15. The monitor I run is the Dell Ultra Sharp 43’’- 4K USB-C Monitor: U4320Q. I'm not married to any make or brand. The 8-core Core i9 9900K with its 5.0GHz Turbo’d is the possible chip but want to pick the motherboard 1st. Any help, links or comments are greatly appreciated. Jason

I love this review! My father is a retired PC Engineer and he ordered it for me yesterday from Dell and it'll be here tomorrow (he had it customized to include 64GB of ECC memory, 2TB SSD, and the non-subscription versions of Microsoft Office Professional 2019, Adobe Acrobat 2020 Professional & McAfee PC Security). In addition, he ordered the wireless keyboard & mouse combo & a 4TB external hard drive. I'm so excited! This will be strictly for home use only.

I place both ThinkPad P and Precision laptops. I always run into issues; out of the box problems and failing components at a much higher rate with the Precision line, while the Thinkpad P are really solid build quality.

Never thought of Dell as classy, haha. I have no brand loyalty, but I will say my Lenovo devices hold up physically better over time than my Dell devices do. I've had both personally and company issued. I have a ThinkPad I'm replacing that has flown hundreds of thousands of miles and still looks great. It even outlasted it's original backpack. I'm passing it on to my son for school. My Dell is company issued, and looks beat to Hell even though it is a year newer and has seen less use. You can see the translucent plastic under the coating that has rubbed off. Still, they both do their jobs. I'm still looking at Dell as well as everyone else for a mobile workstation. Just wish they would put more effort into making their products tougher. Even their peripherals don't seem to hold up as much. On a side note, I have to say I miss the days when my primary workstation was a tower. I could build exactly what I wanted, cheaper than a Tier 1, and keep it running long after it should have been scrapped. I never seem to find the exact combination of specs I want. I always have to sacrifice something.

Hello, I'm a mechatronics Engineer from Peru. My University we have always used Inventor ( my mechanical engineers friends only use AutoCAD) but I have never heard or come in contact with any big company or Industry that uses Inventor. For example, Owens Illinois uses CreoParametrics, Caterpillar Uses Either Solidworks or Catia, and on and on ... I participated in Shell Eco-Marathon 2017 and 2018 ... nearly all students, universities and companies use other programs. As a matter of fact, Altair is a gold Sponsor of the event. But Penske Racing team used Catia, GM uses Catia too, and almost all use Altair for simulation. My question is, In your experience Wich industry and I wich countries does Inventor stand Up? I have over 5 years of experience with the program and I would like to be a certified professional but I need to know where my potential Market is. THANKS!

Grab a Dell Optiplex 9020 (minitower) off eBay. For CAD work I need a huge screen especially for referencing online tutorials. I’m not sure what you ended up with but I’ve survived with a 2012 i5 MacBook Pro with dedicated graphics. I also have a generic 2016 Dell whatever 15” laptop that I bought off a friend for $100. It was a bit of a nightmare to work on because he’d botched a diy upgrade on it but it’s good now.

Alright great video.... But i would share something.... I have a DELL PRECISION 7710 with QUADRO M3000M and 32GB of RAM and trust me its a beast... Evenly with latest AUTODESK softwares excluding INVENTOR it works flawlessly ... Sorry i prefer SOLIDWORKS more than INVENTOR....due to its more user friendly environment... but anyways dell precisions are great products... I would recommend based on my own 8 years of experience... In CAD with DELL PRODUCTS..

Thanks for the video. How can I estimate the maximum project complexity or file size (Revit, Inventor) which can be well handled by Quadro T1000, let's say in an HP ZBook 15 G6 - Core i7-9850H / 32GB?

So I see that the Xeon E-2286M has a 2.40GHz base clock speed while the E-2276M has a base of 2.80GHz. Would that work better for Inventor? Or does the 5.0 turbo vs. the 4.7 offset that?
@I_ammm_mojojojo
@I_ammm_mojojojo 4 жыл бұрын
though the base clock come into play at low task usages, I'd still go with the higher turbo clock as CAD needs as much as it can get, so when you task the system it will boost to meet the demands. If you really concerned about the lower base clocks, go to the BIOS and turn off your "C states" and virtualization for better base performance. Hope this helps.

My work gave me a 7730 with the i5-8400H/Quadro P3200/32gb. seems ok from working with it for about 6 months now on inventor. just benched it and got 8.95. Not sure if that's a true value as honeywell puts a load of antivirus and stuff on there deployments running in the background. Didnt realise i was lugging around a potato machine lol

The last time I passed comment on bezels I took a beating, I agree the display doesn't look slick but I've decided that's not my concern... I'm OK with concluding whether or not I'd recommend it as an engineering tool for running 3D CAD and whether or not I'd personally buy it, but yea from now on I'm picking my fights and that isn't mine.

I wouldn't say it's not because it's a Dell...their vapor chamber cooling solution is what allows full speed without thermal throttling. We're looking for new laptops for our civil group and Lenovo is going bye bye because of thermal throttling.
