2:12 _"One of which can fit gen 4 SSD's"_ This is inaccurate. Both M.2 slots can fully utilize PCIe 4.0 M.2 drives. Although, both slots do share the same 4 PCIe lanes so I wouldn't attempt something like a Raid 0.
@PuurplePumpkin2 жыл бұрын
RAID 0 could work though, maybe with sequential reads and writes there won't be a major improvement but random reads and writes would improve, no? But it's a laptop so raid 0 is a bit of a waste
@BrianJ.8 ай бұрын
Why would you even need RAID 0 when PCIe 4.0 drives can reach 7000MB/s. What is there to gain in real world utility.
@SimplestUsername8 ай бұрын
@@BrianJ. Good question, on a server there are some applications with ROM intense rendering that could benifit. Though on a laptop like this, the increased latency of Raid 0 will likely overshadow the increased speeds.

Hello, can you put in an SSD gen4 with 3.5mm thickness or is this too thick? Thanks for your help :-) !

Having a real hard time finding out what brand of M.2 NVME was originally installed in my 9710 model. I bought my laptop as used, and I checked the model in the Disk Storage, and it's a WDC SN730 NVMe. I have a feeling, it's not the original
@Tylos2 жыл бұрын
The 9710 comes with WD SN730 NVME SSD. Its orignal.

It's a fake video. It's not easy to open it. You need to start from REAR side, otherwise you will brake all plastic pins inside!

I love it when these bullshit "how-to" videos act like all you have to do is remove the screws then slip in a plastic card around the edge to separate the back cover. Zero chance.
@vasilestana97543 жыл бұрын
So, to change the battery, one needs to take off the back cover? That's BS.

This is considered one of the easier battery replacements on the market. *No glue!* Though now I'm curious what you expected; a battery quick release or something? Such things add substantial bulk and reduce build quality.
@vasilestana97542 жыл бұрын
@@SimplestUsername I was expecting a battery quick release
@SimplestUsername2 жыл бұрын
@@vasilestana9754 That definitely used to be a thing. Now I believe such features are exclusive to rugged laptop lineups and maybe some commercial models. Nothing you'd want to use as a daily driver. I just opened my XPS 17 Today to install a new M.2 SSD. It's honestly very simple so long as you have the right Security Torx bit and something like a guitar pick to pry it.
