@@kundakaps anything than Dell has a better QC
@kw17762 жыл бұрын
@18 pregnant and proud the only qc problem is the trackpad. If people complain about thermals, that's only because they are using it for things it wasn't built for. If people complain about battery drain, as she said its under very high workload. Also battery life is great because on gaming laptops you max out at 3,4,5 hours on normal tasks, but on the XPS you get 8+ hours. When gaming, even though the xps isn't a gaming laptop, it lasts close to 5 hours max and the powerful gaming laptops last only 2-3 hours. Also the XPS performs better on battery life than when plugged in, and that's the whole idea. It's a thin and for it's dimensions light laptop that is made to be able to be carried around, unlike heavy and bulky gaming laptops. You guys should cut Dell some slack. The XPS has excellent build quality, not to mention one of the most color accurate screen, as was in the video (delta e value of 0.33). This machine is literally almost a MacBook, with windows running on it.

Stay away from these laptops, my work bought me a maxed out one. I have been using it for 2 months now. Trackpad doesn’t register clicks on the lower left 30% of the time. Fans pulse on and off suggesting the fan curve hysteresis isn’t setup properly. Sleep mode isn’t reliable, laptop has not woken up multiple times now. I would have been ticked off if I had wasted my own money on it. Compared to my personal MBP14 it isn’t even close in terms of experience. That laptop runs quiet, sleep always works and the trackpad is flawless.

Sound: I own a late 2019 MacBook Pro and bought the Dell XPS 17 early 2020 for a back-up computer and as a media consumption device (watching MLB, KZbinTv, etc). While I like the Dell and agree with everything in Lisa's review (she reviews the newer model but the speakers seem unchanged), I do want to alert anyone in the market who adores music and sound to definitely listen to this Dell in person before buying it. The sound is mediocre, at best, and this is especially evident when comparing it to the "best in class" Apple MacBook Pros. The Dell is much behind, and I feel that the review here minimizes the difference. Of course, coming from a lousy laptop sound to this Dell may not be as jarring to the ears, but if you come from Apple-land, or from a dedicated stereo, you will be unimpressed. Good review. A question, if you or someone else reading this might know the answer: I'm considering this with the FHD rather than UHD+4k screen, so as to save battery life. The money savings is nice but not the priority. I've also read and seen on KZbin videos that the 4k doesn't do as well on the 16x10 aspect ratio screen. Do you think that FHP 17" screen would still look great? And how much better do you think the battery life might be if I forego the UHD+4k screen in favor of the FHP screen? I am considering a new Dell XPS 1710 laptop with the 11th gen i7 chip, the 3050 graphics, 32GB RAM (Maybe 16GB but 32 won't hurt, might help), 1 TB SSD storage, Windows 11, possibly buying MS Office, mostly for Outlook, and considering Webroot rather than McAfee for security. My situation is that I am a young 60 and not a gamer, though I might like to try that now and again, and do not do video or music editing. I work from home and do heavy general use, heaving online, for long hours weekdays, and a good number of hours off and on evenings and weekends. I work from home, but am setting up a mobile capability with a wifi hotspot (Not sure if I should do hotspot in my car or in my phone yet, but one of them), so I can take my home office with me whenever and wherever I wish. Though I work from my home office most of the time. Need flexibility though. I do lots of online search, I research and trade stocks, have streaming quotes and watch lists and charts up constantly during market hours. I do lots of KZbin video research reviews, but I do enjoy a KZbin movie now and again during the week. Lots emailing, some chatting and Zoom. I use Chrome, or have been, and use Outlook a great deal (Thinking of dropping that), Word from time to time, and on a rare occasion Xcel. After February 2022 I'll likely be getting the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra +5G phone (though considering an Apple iphone 13 pro max). Am intrigued by Dell Connect between the laptop and phone, though don't know much about that. I'd welcome answers to the above questions, and any thoughts or suggestions on anything else if you or anyone cares to. I'm older, and not techie, just analytical and like to be thorough. Thank you. And thumbs up for the review. Nicely done.

I do lots of high-res video editing on it and it performs exquisitely well. The Dell Connect & Android connectivity is great. I enjoy media consumption on this laptop. The 4k screen with the 16:10 aspect ratio does not disappoint. I use mine plugged in most times. When unplugged, the battery life will give a reasonable duration depending on what you're doing. With Wi-Fi connected or if video editing while unplugged for instance, I might get 2+hrs from it. If I'm just watching movies while unplugged, I can get 4+hrs from it. All round, it's an excellent workstation and worth every penny I paid to purchase and upgrade it (I put in 64GB RAM, and a 2nd 2TB SSD alongside the 1TB SSD it came with). At this price Dell doesn't include a 1080 camera? That's a deal breaker!

There's ads on Facebook for this one. $86! Are those real ads?

Who in the hell needs ultra settings. People are just going wild with this gaming craze, it is just insane. and who in the hell wants to tolerate temperatures of 100 centigrate, that is 212 degrees fahrenheit and can cause dangerous burns if you touch the botoom or anywhere that heat is located. Why??

That Dell doesn't make a flagship bigscreen with a numeric pad is leaving a huge amount of money on the table... biz buyers would pump their numbers up fairly significantly... but I get copying the MacBook Pro is the brief here and that will likely never change...
