I know it's not a crazy top tier machine, but I recently purchased the Dedica and it's been so nice making my own drinks at home. Looking forward to maybe making some upgrades to the machine a bit further down the road.

You can easily make it a top tier machine like you said by getting a bottomless portafilter, a good grinder ,a better tamper and a distributor. Except the grinder the rest is not super expensive and makes a big difference 🙂

Hi Peter, I'm learning a lot from your videos thank you!! I also have the same machine as you but I'm not able to get my milk to have a silky texture like you for me large bubbles are formed in the froth and once the milk becomes too hot it start to spill out do you have any advice for me? also what if the temperatures of milk you are using?

Have you tried removing the metallic part from the steam wand ?You can get better result by using the silicone part of the steam wand.The milk has to be full fat (whole milk) of 3.5% or above and cold so you can have more time for the steaming. The right temperature is about 60-62 degrees Celsius, you can stop streaming the milk when the milk pot gets hot enough for you to not be able to hold it anymore. Thank you for watching 🙂

It might not be the best, but these cheap machines are a great way to enjoy espresso without getting an expensive machine you use once a day. I personally use it to make iced mochas i dont care too much about the look, just the flavor. I like the delonghi machines, might give this one a try.

The fact that the starbucks didn't channel hard tells us that either the pressure/heat in the EC685 is not at its best, or that grinder is magical and creates robusta. Maybe preheat by running a shot or two beforehand, that works wonders for me. Then try some specialty coffee and throw out the starbucks, anything that poor of quality which masquerades as being "complex" is evil.

Thank you for watching first o all 🙂 the grinder is old but still to this day does a good job. The coffee beans were 100% Arabica. I have the machine for about 3 years now and it's normal to have lost something in pressure. I have tried specialty coffee in the past but with a pressurized portafilter and I didn't get the very best out of it. I will try again and I will upload a video about it so stay tuned 👌👍

Well what can i recommend you to do is : 1. Dont ever buy beans from starbucks 😂 they sucks... 2. Preheating the portafilter while grinding your bean is a good idea ..

I've noticed that about the portafilter that it needs preheating before using it because it's really cold. As for the Starbucks coffee I disagree, it was good especially when brewing with the bottomless portafilter you get all the flavors. Thank you for the advice and for commenting 🙂

@@Petercoffeee a bottomless portafilter doesnt make a difference. flavour isn't made when there isn't a spout. trust me, try some specialty coffee beans and you will be hooked! a bottomless portafilter is either for aesthetics or to analyze your flow distribution and rate (which both you and I know you arent doing)

Sorry to tell you that but this is the most sad espresso i've ever seen. Zero crema pouring, only dark liquid.

@@Petercoffeee its more due to the freshness of your beans, just based of the colour of your crema (the foamy bit on top) it tells me that this coffee is probably stale and over a month old. coffee beans arent one of those things that don't go bad even if stored in an airtight environment. they lose c02 rapidly. what you're looking for is fresh roasted beans from a certified roaster rested for at least 2 weeks for a balance of acidity, bitterness and coffee tasting notes. you might've noticed how the Starbucks beans have a BEST BEFORE date. that just doesn't work for coffee. what you need is a ROAST DATE. and no the glass does not effect your coffee in any way shape or form.
