Really great video, good comparision style. Had Bambino Plus for 2/3 years now and good to know it's still the best in this class by a long way.

Love my Bambino Plus, I use it a huge amount. Love the removable water tank and wish the Sage Precision Brewer had the same, I love both machines depending on what coffee I feel like.

Great video! I have the bambino plus and I’m really impressed with it, I recently upgraded to a bottomless portafilter and ims basket however, the coffee is now super bitter. I’m going to try grinding coarser but, any tips?

Great review. Couple of my observations, not that I want to compete with Kev as I would prefer to continue watching this channel instead of getting mine. However couple of things I would appreciate knowing before I purchased my DDMP - I believe the speed it warms up is over rated, simply I press the button and don't just stand there watching the machine to heat up, but I star preparing my coffee (e.g., weighing, grinding, puck prepping) - The cool steam wand I love. I often forget to clean it and purge it before I pour the milk into my coffee drink and what I read on reddit, a lot of newbies like me complain about the BBP caking milk on the wand - Used auto steaming on day one, never used it again, but I think my wife appreciates it - No hot water, not really a big deal. If you don't have a kettle around or can't be bothered using it, just heat the water using the steam wand - The auto steaming timing... strange, never noticed it to be taking this long. Contrary, I was surprised how quick it is. - On the DDMP you can set the pre-infusion max to 2 seconds - Portafilters, I actually like a lot the one provided with DDMP, however, there are no aftermarket portafilters available at the moment. So you will be either stick with the one provided with DDMP, or you will have to manually grind of the excess tabs off the portafilters for previous Delonghi Dedica machines. - Couple of game changers that decided why I did not buy the BBP. I read a lot of reviews, in local online stores, or at amazon. Some folks were complaining that the drip tray leaks and the water then damages the table it sits on. Another one was that, warranty claims were often unsuccessful with Breville saying wrong coffee was used, and similar ludicrous. But I guess that's just a local thing. Hope my excessively long comment will help someone making the right purchase.

forget to mention, I got a 20% discount from Delonghi, simply by asking them. Used the extra cash to buy Niche Zero, which then cost me 230 BGP extra on DHL shipping to EU, import tax and storage, while the bored local customs officers played with it.
@OneHandOnTheKeyboard4 ай бұрын
I went with the DDMP also. The easy clean wand, you can just steam water with the wand, temp control, and there are bottomless portafilters you can use, no need for pressurized baskets with fresh ground coffee.
@TechEtrix2 ай бұрын
As far as I'm aware, the aftermarket portafilters for the Delonghi La Specialista series do fit the DDMP! :)

Key is temperature control. There is another review that clearly measured that you can get a nice constant temp with the Delonghi (and you can obviously adjust it), while the Bambino the temperature is inconsistent and cant be controlled. If it's more important to you that the machine warms up in 3 vs 17 seconds, well, you're priorities have been made clear. You might as well drink nespresso.

I disagree with the heat up time comparison. 3 seconds was a big win from my perspective.
@JanGoh-jb5ge4 ай бұрын
Nah, that 3s heatup time is a CLEAR win for the bambino. When I'm hurrying out the door to swim practice in the morning, those seconds count; it's one of the primary reasons I bought the bambino plus over anything else. I don't accept that the 20s sort of averages out in the end.
@Imabanana8474 ай бұрын
Totally agree. It's so nice to push the button and have the machine heated up by the time you insert the portafilter.
@Coffee_Kev4 ай бұрын
It averages out if you're pre-heating, if you're not, and you're literally making a shot as soon as it's heated up in 3 seconds, then yeah I'd agree. Ta, Kev.
@Coffee_Kev4 ай бұрын
@@Imabanana847 It's not heated up in 3 seconds though, the very, very tiny thermojet is heated at that point, the rest of your machine, the brew path, the group, the portafilter and your cup, are all stone cold, it takes 30 seconds or so of flushing to get it all up to temp. Ta, Kev.
@JanGoh-jb5ge4 ай бұрын
@@Coffee_Kev Right, but after 3s I can push the button to put hot water through the portafilter. I'm assuming that with the Delonghi, I'd have to wait 20s before I can even start to do those things, right? There's a certain economy of action that I'm looking for that I think the Bambino is going to win on, that's all. You're not going to pull a shot directly out of the machine after 3s, but after 20s, I've already got water pumping through the whole system while my beans are grinding. And hey, 20s isn't going to matter to some people, I get it, but that's a real, measurable difference. Like I said, it was a major factor for me.
@vrvrvr814 ай бұрын
I believe it is all about the workflow. If you first turn on the coffee machine and then start the coffee puck prep, the 3 or 30 sec makes no difference. We are not talking here about 30 minutes heat up time of Lelit Mara. Unless you use pre-ground coffee and then your argument makes sense. But at that point if time is the essence you can as well go for Nespresso machines and throw in a coffee pod.
@larrylitmanen9877Ай бұрын
Good price difference between the two, on Amazon Delongi is $349 and Bambino is $499.

@Coffee_Kev4 ай бұрын
Hi, in the UK it comes with both, but it does depend on where you are based. Ta Kev

IMO the temp control instantly makes the DMP the better machine here. It has overall better espresso performance ( horrible auto steaming though i won't lie)
@Coffee_Kev4 ай бұрын
If all things were equal then I'd agree. I'd rather have the 9 bar OPV, low pressure pre-infusion, 3 way solenoid valve AND adjustable temp, for sure - but if I had to give up the others just to have the ability to not be fixed at 93C brew temp, I wouldn't take that swap personally. Ta, Kev.

I bought a bambino plus and used it as my first espresso machine for a month. It seemed perfect for me and I got some good shots...but 90% of them were all way too sour to drink. I bought 3 bags of different dark/espresso roasts and they were all sour. I now bought a flair 58 a week ago and all the coffees I used in the bambino come out perfect after 2-3 dial in shots. Still keeping the bambino for milk steaming though...... anyone else have this experience with the bambino plus? 🤔
