@@Deloraine Bulgarian here imagine my surprise when I found out that this combat song was one of our special songs (Banana tiger comments got me curious), and I will try to clarify the usage. This is not a wedding song, it is a courting song, the Lazar girls move from house to house, blessing the people, the idea in olden days is to declare that they are now looking for their future husbands and are no longer little girls. On Christmas (Koleda) in Bulgaria the young lads do the same - this involves singing and gifting round pretzel on the big sticks carried by the lads. The song speaks about marriage but as a future fictional event - it declares intent for a marriage and would therefore not be played on a wedding. It was used to look at the girls and vice versa, afterwards on the big feasts and summer gatherings they could court on the square or village fountain and on the dances - called horo where a girl can be selected and can ‘modestly’ woo her chosen with a few glances a couple of laughs etc. The horo dances are still danced everywhere and can be used for the same purpose. We even have a saying - A wife is found at the horo (jena se namira na horoto). Great rendition as well much better than all of Blood Origin and season 2 😁.
