This is an excellent video. My LCAs started to crack around the same weld. 44k on the odometer. Replaced with billet.

Thanks for the information. 44k is pretty low mileage to be seeing that failure. Glad you found it!

Good information. I sent a email last week , wanted to schedule a time to come down and see the shop and talk about buying a car.

Happy to show you the shop any any cars we have available. Give us a call. 815-459-6439.

Many years ago my lhf lower arm split exactly like that one. It’s amazing that so many are still intact now which is well past their intended service life.

I agree, makes for a scary failure.

Mike can you tell us the proper way or shows us the best places for a tow vehicle to hook onto the car so nothing gets damaged?
@michaelmcelhattan72382 жыл бұрын
Good idea for a video. I recommend using straps on all 4 tow hooks. Tire straps are also fine. NO CHAINS! and watch for tow drivers hooking the control arms to winch them onto the truck.

With aluminium lca's don't they corrode due to having a stainless steel ball joint pressed into it, especially in countries that salt their roads? Also how many ball joints can be pressed in before the hole gets too deformed.

Really? Who's driving a Delorean after the roads have been salted?
@michaelmcelhattan72382 жыл бұрын
A solid aluminum arm will hold up much better than a steel sheet metal arm to road salt. Also ball joints and sleeves are not made of stainless steel. As mentioned the frame will not hold up to road salt either.

I have a question, so the nose the piece houses the head lights is that stainless? Since in most pics that part as well as the rear section that houses the tail lights, look like a diffrent color.

It is not, it’s made out of urethane and in most cases painted silver but not always the same shade.

Last year I boxed in my LCAs plus put in a piece of 1/8 inch steel on each side inside to strengthen the ball joint area because I knew that they fail like that.
