There is some information that producer and journalist Barbara McDonald has recently shared that, if true, could affect the case against Richard M. Allen. Let's discuss it and the latest documents.

I went back and listened to the HLN Down the Hill podcast where ISP Trooper Kim Riley arrived at the crime scene the day the bodies were found. During the interview, he states that there were 5-6 crime scene techs, they secured the site and put a fence around it to process and 'get it done'. Barbara Mc Donald asks him if he's confident they did that. He hedges a bit and says "The way we did it, one guy would check over the work another guy had done, and then they would bring in another team to re-check that." Not verbatim, but pretty close. So if the area where the bullet was found was right between the 2 girls, it stands to reason that area would be checked really well, right? He even said they "turned over every leaf". It seems a stretch to me, that all these professionals would have overlooked a bullet that was right between the girls, even if it was buried in the dirt. So then it's secured and re-secured after a time and the magic bullet is found. Who found the bullet? Hard to believe anything as truth anymore.

Since day one I have huge doubts about R. Allen responsibility in all this terrible tragedy. Also Dr Grande has said he thinks he is not the guy. I still do not know why he is kept in custody. His mental health is really compromised to take any confession as evidence. Where is any DNA at all? Shame on police.

You don’t need any DNA for probable cause or finding someone guilty. I’ve served on a jury before. Plenty of crime scenes don’t have DNA. He put himself on the trails at the time of the murders. He was wearing matching clothing of bridge guy. No one else was seen during that timeframe that matches the description. As of right now there’s no one else that was there who causes me to doubt it was him.

An unspent bullet is not evidence of anything, unfortunately. Even if there was a mark left , there would be no way of knowing what gun made that mark. It is not like shooting the bullet from the chamber. There is way too much smell coming from Delphi. My attention is now on the higher ups. 👀😬

I was angry (upset) that it took the investigators 6 years to figure out the “bridge guy” was Richard Allen. Now I am glad that he has a good defense lawyer. Something is screwy about this case. Since when does a person cold enough to murder these two girls become sick in prison for what he did. Imagine being accused of this crime even if you are innocent and feeling like because you were there (or near) that they are going to pin this on you and there is nothing you can do about it. You might act like Richard Allen.

Hi Gisela I think the timeline is wrong in this case. The car that people spotted was no way his as they gave the wrong make of car. Now they are trying to say that they found the bullet buried. That could have been planted as there is no evidence to prove it was his. The defence for RA have enough evidence under their sleeves for an appeal if needed. Firstly, at what point are the defence lawyers allowed to ask for dismissal of the case? Surely if they knew about the bullet and the way it was found (after the scene was released and re-secured) that would be a BIG no-no for use as evidence, particularly as it does seem to be a significant part of the evidence (as far as we know) that connects Richard Allen to the actual scene. Who gave permission for the crime scene to be released and who asked for it be re-secured, and why? How often do crime scences get released and re-secured? It seems odd that this information is being released at a time where aspects of McCleland's behaviour (saying there was no video or audio evidence of some interviews - technically true, but he didn't say there HAD been but they were "lost" or deleted) could potentially give rise to Richard Allen being released and now this bullet could give even more impetus to the call for him to be released. Is the tide turning against the prosecution, now that we are all seeing that the way they have behaved has been concerning. And the concerning behaviour seems to have been deliberate, completely unlike the defence lawyers, whom they tried to get removed. This has been such a shambles and I hope there is an investigation into how this could be allowed to happen. How the Judge can judge on whether she should recuse herself is beyond me. How she can justify keeping Richard Allen miles away from the defence team is also a question to answer. Have there been any cover up's or planting of evidence? The strength of the bullet evidence, does not seem that strong, and you have to ask, how may people carry the same caliber gun that the bullet could have come out of? I think they need a completely new team of investigators (from another area? What about the FBI?) to look at all the evidence and see if there could be any other suspects. This is tragic for Libby and Abbey and for their families and for the chance of justice.

Unspent round? Give me 2000 rounds and 2000 Sig 26's and I can replicate the same extractor scratches on the casings on about 90% of the 2000 rounds. Its junk science. The firearms all have the same parts, and more than likely came from the same manufacturer, there by producing the exact same scratches on the 90% of unspent cartridges. What was unique about Rick Allens Sig 26 that they are so sure it was his Sig 26 the round came from?

Exactly. And especially so, considering the round was unspent = not fired. The markings for a round that was simply ejected and not fired are not unique. It's even more junk science than when a round is actually fired. It's like saying a smudged handprint is found and the lab determines it was a hand with 5 fingers and a certain person has a hand with 5 fingers so the print must be theirs. It's not evidence it's garbage. I know you know this, still I feel compelled to express how junk this "science" is.

There are all kinds of marks made on a round that is chambered, extracted and ejected. It’s not just marks from the extractor alone. I’m a federally trained weapon expert with combat experience in eastern Afghanistan with the US Army infantry. Granted, the weapons I used the least were our handguns and I wasn’t trained in forensics but I was taught that each weapon is leaving marks from the magazine through the whole cycle. It was part of them scaring us into following ROE and PID.

Just the tolerances "slop" in the mechanism alone will produce different scratches marks, etc when being cycles. Police said the scene was contaminated from all the voluntary searchers that were there on the 13th. Then people stayed out there through early morning on the 14th. People were just trampling all over the area. Making it worse. 😢 anyone could have put that unspent bullet there. People shoot out there all the time. That casing could be anyones.

That’s a personal opinion but as much as I believe she should be taken off the case or hey morally step down…you’re right she doesn’t give a f now because she knows she’s done. They would take her off the case BUT then the state has to admit they have a bad judge and this is case is HUGE! To take her off would almost be worse for their case. They said he’s the guy so now to go back on that shewy it’s a freaking mess

An American cop at a horrific crime scene would most likely have their gun out and loaded. When the scene is secured they might clear their gun by ejecting the round in the chamber. This is a more plausible scenario than anything I have heard yet

This is so sad in so many ways. First, for Libby and Abby's families😥😥. 7 years and this is going on. Secondly, Richard Allen because IF he's truly innocent, which is beginning to look like more and more, it's horrible the way he's been treated. In prison instead of jail. Next, Law enforcement. I have no idea what to even say on this. What an ABSOLUTE MESS they have made, and it's costing the family's more pain. The prosecution knows their case is weak, and it seems is working with the judges' assistance to delay, stall replace good defense attorneys, and so much more. That bullet was always questionable to me, and after hearing this...OMG. It's been a total mockery at the expense of Justice for Abby and Libby and possibly for Richard Allen. I pray this resolves soon with TRUTH AND JUSTICE. I don't think it will happen with this judge, sadly.

In the WM3 case there is enough evidence against one of the kids step father that could probably get him convicted along with one of his friends, I'm 99% sure of it. However, the police will never arrest him because that would be admitting they got it wrong. If he was convicted then a slew of lawyers would line up to sue the state for the kids.

Check into circumstances why girls were there that day. Signs they were to meek someone. Days before they were on private property near bridge. Phone records they had talked to someone. Kegan kline phone call. Someone knew they would be there, waited for them. Probably more than one person.

My problem is there are too many sketchy things surrounding this case. I am not a Allen defender, I just want the guilty person to be found no matter who that is. Another thing is that I believe to control those girls imo it is highly possible it was more than one person. IMO the prosecution is set on Allen and not set on being led where the evidence leads. They imo only look for stuff to use against Allen while ignoring the things that don't point to him. For me it is all too biased. And somehow i can't shake the feeling that law enforcement is trying to hide some stuff too...

They won’t be able to say RA’s gun “matches”. Mist any expert will say is “consistent with”. The evidence on a unspent casing is novel in Indiana and will be an appellate issue regardless of the chain of custody issues. Defense will have a field day as in the Steven Avery trial.
