Delphi Silverado steering box leaking from Pittman Arm Seal. New seals! No leak!

I'm glad the one on my 06 Yukon is still holding up well. All I've done is replace the inner tie rods about 10 years ago. I did turn the set screw about 1/2 turn to take up a little of the slack. I also installed the Cognito steering brace for the pitman and idler arms along with a rough country steering dampener.

The heat here kills everything. This box leaked twice from this seal. They last around 70,000 or so. I had to turn that adjustment screw a few times I did it when I changed the seal again. Been through I dunno. 4 hoses now? I put back a OEM GM pitman arm I didn't like the moog one It was always very stiff it steers way easier now. Less resistance. Really it needs new gears these delphi boxes are not as adjustable as the older Saginaw boxes. Which was all sold to China Which is awesome but that's another story. Some Shandong China whatever company owns all that innovation now + supplies near every automotive OE. Now the CV boot is leaking on the left side. Needs plugs/ wires and I should change all 160k Original o2 sensors Too much for this place. Its not a mechanics shop

Do you have the torqe specs

What is the torque for the 4 bolts holding the pitchman shaft to the housing? Also what is torque for the lock nut in the center? Rebuilt my gear box that didn’t leak but had a groan. The brown is gone but now it leaks from where the top of the pitman shaft meets the housing.

Think it was around 37ft lbs I forget I used Saginaw box specs because I didnt have spec sheet for a Delphi . Your O ring is probably leaking from the top or if its a older Saginaw box the gasket is bad on it. sometimes it will leak under the lock nut and the allen shaft

I have replaced a few steering box lower seals and can't figure out why the lower seal in this box seems upside down. I have heard it called a dust seal but there is another "dust" seal below. The idea is to keep the oil from leaking out. Was this manufactured wrong and everyone just goes along with it.

Thats how the delphi boxes are just do it that way. The Saginaw box the seals go regular
