Where did you find this? I've been searching everywhere for the lyrics the the first and second of these two hymns. If you knew where to find the second one that'd help sooo much. Please and thank you

My source was Documents of Ancient Greek Music, by Egert Pohlmann and Martin L. West. I found it at the U. of Washington library, but you should be able to find it at any good college music library. As I recall it doesn't show an English translation, but for sure there's a diagram of the Greek words, along with the corresponding musical pitches.

Where can one find the sheet music of both of these hymns? (And not the totally wrong transcriptions on wikipedia please 😂)

Why the music sheet is in another key than the performancs?

It is in E minor which is 1 sharp, and in bass clef not treble. :)

I'm sorry to say it, but Modern Greeks did a far better job with the song. Even though they don't use the Reconstructed pronunciation, their familiarity with the language and its prosody makes them far better singers! This performance was terribly lacking in quality!

Are you really saying about the 'ancient hymn' now?

@@tudormardare66 I'm not Greek, so I can't say whether the pronunciation is accurate... But you know what, this is a very good singer. Thanks for the link. The cadence is slightly different to most versions I can find (which are more similar to the version in Civilization III), but still obviously the same song.
