In my area here in eastern cape xenophobia caused foreign spaza owners to leave with immediate effect. The locals claimed the shop and all it's belongings sold what was in the shop but never replenished the shop with the money they made. Shop closed down then a new foreigner bought the shop from the guys that claimed it and the locals are again supporting a prospering spaza shop.
