By the way you sort of messed up the explanation of what delta connections is, Delta has a scope agreement with pilots which means a certain number of 76 seater and a functionally unlimited number of 50 seat aircraft can be operated by regional airlines. They are not all owned by delta and currently 5 airlines (Skywest, republic, Endeavor (a wholly owned airline) gojets, and compass (the last two belong to Transtate holdings a company which has some questionable labor practices)) operate as delta connection but by the end of 2020 it will be three (Skywest, Republic, and Endeavor).

I live just a few miles from where they make this aircraft. It used to be a C-Series made by Bombardier, a French Canadian company. This particular model was bought out by Airbus. I'm glad that one of our aircrafts is so well constructed and also saddened that it is no longer ours.

Paul you are correct this is a great airplane. I flew it on Delta from LGA to IAH last week after my 12 day voyage on QM 2 from Southampton to NYC via Hamburg and Le Havre. It delivered two important values for me. I could fly non-stop from LGA to Houston and I didn't have to fly on United. It is also comfortable and the food service was fine. I too had the sandwich, even though I didn't know I could pre-order. I will keep that in mind for my next trips.

Still the Bombardier C-Series 200 and 300 for me, but will eventually get used to the A220 tag. One of the smartest acquisitions by Airbus as this is indeed the best short to medium range regional jet, period. Sleek, powerful, ultra quiet and with great interior design, its a pleasure to fly on them.
@oanceamihaela17135 жыл бұрын
I believe you are wrong. The best medium-range regional jet is Embraer. Check the numbers.
@Bobskiboy855 жыл бұрын
@@oanceamihaela1713 For most of us aviation lovers, its a personal choice. I have been flying since I can remember and everything from single engine Cessnas in the tropics of PNG, to the 380 which I have flown on about 28 times now. I have also flown on many Embraer in Australia when they first became popular with Virgin Australia and still are. Its not about numbers for me, I am an experience kind of guy, prefer to feel it myself rather than rely on a set of stats. Embraer I still love and until the C-Series came along, it was my favourite regional jet. But its now like a good beer versus a great beer for me. The C-series you drink and just go wow, it hits all the right spots, the Embraer you drink and go, was ok but just lacked that polished edge. If you beg to differ, fine, doesn't mean you are wrong, just a different point of view...healthy to have opinions!!

Paul, the A220s IFE was created, and owned, 100% by Delta Flight Products (a subsidiary of Delta) and is wireless meaning each screen is its own unit vs feeding off of a main streaming box, per se. In the future, this will be used to welcome each individual to their seat and allow frequent fliers to "bookmark" content they like (think like Netflix). Whenever they fly on an aircraft with this technology, they will get welcomed with their information on the IFE along with content tailored to their likings. Same with drinks they order frequently, food, things like that. Apparently, many airlines around the world have come to Delta wanting a piece of it, but Delta tells them to stuff it. I think it could change the way people entertain on planes.

@theswordguy52695 жыл бұрын
Paul, the reason that Americans line up so early is to enable them to cram their oversized carryons into the overhead bins. As US airlines continue to add charges and fees for checked baggage, flyers are responding with more and larger carryons. As a result, there's a premium need for those with large carryons to get on first and stuff their crap into the overhead bins, which on many planes aren't that large. I recall flying on a 737 once and was seated in the final boarding group. We were told that we'd have to gate check our carryons due to the overhead bins already being filled up. Yes, an entire boarding group. There was a near riot in the terminal.

I am also incredibly proud that Delta did not let Boeing's nasty antics and attempts are running Bombardier straight out of business due to the fact they were extensively bitter towards them for being so intensely successful and renown across the world, especially with US carriers for their airliners, and their (Boeing's) incredibly epic failures each attempt they ever made in their long history to create one of their own that could match these small domestic airliners. I am even more thrilled that AirBus, their only actual true competitors just so happened to be all snide with the way they came in and rescued Bombardier with their Purchase of their C-Series program, and then immediately announcing they'd be manufacturing and selling said planes from their new North American HQ & Base in Mobile, Alabama once it was completed! That is incredibly hilarious, and as usual, was blatantly the stereotypical result of these signature Boeing temper-tantrums haha. Pure, aggressive backfire! And man did it ever backfire on them! Serves Boeing right. Airbus makes the superior planes anyways these days, and that said, they REALLY do now that Boeing has decided to be dishonest, withhold important information and intentionally look to cut corners wherever they can on their aircraft. To be completely honest here, as a Oregonian born & raised, I am truly proud to say I can't wait until Boeing falls to Airbus in market-share, and eventually collapses completely due to their own willful negligence. Also I will ALWAYS refer to the A220s as Bombardier C-Series, as that is exactly what they are, even if the program is fully absorbed into Airbus. As much as I love Airbus (I love them a whole lot), I refuse to not maintain the original names & credits to each aircraft out there. No matter, they are truly wonderful aircraft.

I fly 1st class on both the A220 and E175 quit a bit on the west coast with Delta and I personally prefer the E175 over the A220. Both are wonderful aircraft and but the E175 has a bit more room and more room under the seat in front of you. The overhead compartments can only take roller bags on one side on both aircraft but I can get a roller bag under the seat on the E175 (you're not suppose to but most of the time the FA don't mind). Both great planes and amazing improvements over the older regional jets. You can easily spend several hours on both planes in comfort at least on the paying side of the cockpit door....

I chuckled when you said LGA is the most hated airport in the US. I live in t the suburbs just north of the city, 90% of the flights I've taken have been out of there. Due to illness I haven't flown in years, but even back then, LGA was a nightmare. The staff were the main problem. Airport, airline, TSA, even food service staff were always just nasty. Unnecessarily so. TSA in particular. However, JFK was always worse, took more than twice as long to get to and Newark just takes too long to get to. Thankfully, our county airport Westchester County, has improved and is offering many more flights. When I'm up to flying again, I'll probably fly from there.

Airbus didn't save Bombardier they both similar management styles...lean on the Government for financing where as Boeing relies on HUGE government Defence Funding for keeping it's commercial "wing" flying... Bombardier didn't need Airbus..even with the Law suit Anti trust suit...Airbus saw the oppurtunity to fuck boeing at its own game with Booked orders..220 plus if memory is correct...swiss air has had this aircraft for three years in service. .and 80% of all Regional Jets in last 15 years have been: Bombardier 100/200 700 & 900...embarer wishes they had a sales book that worn out from entries - or a service life as long...don't see alot of 45s still flying most parked in Kingman or hi desert of California..... Airbus is an oppurtunist . ..and it got naming rights so that a lawsuit would not apply to it!!! The fact that 737 max 8 due to software engineering accelerated 220 climb to even more orders is luck. But better to be lucky than smart..... But airbus hardly saved the leader in the segment. They simply saw an opportunity to save billion's and make 10s of Billions by a JV.....while screwing Boeing at the same time.

@@richardloveday1092 Didn't save Bombardier? Airbus literally just paid over 400 million to Bombardier to save them for the short term debt. Bombardier was moved to junk loans year ago and sold their train operations to Alstom for 9 billion. There's hardly a Bombardier company left anymore.

Terrible. Those who thinks European economy is better than domestic economy is delusional. Delta a220 is so much better than Swiss’ especially up front.

@@richardloveday1092 Bombardier could not raise the capital to build the aircraft in sufficient numbers, before Boeing did their number. The same lack of capital doomed the later British airliners of the 1950/60s: Britannia, Super VC-10 and Trident, which with more investment and development could have competed with the 707/DC-8/727. The Britannia's US equivalent, the L-188 Electra, wasn't a great commercial success, though it still flies for Buffalo.

Couldn't agree more on the A220. I flew the then CS100 of Swiss and the plane feels so nice inside. It's big, airy, huge windows, quiet. You feel like you're on a mini dreamliner.

Yes, and fuck Boeing for their underhanded dealings that cased Bombardier to turn to Airbus for help. We now all see that Boeing is a corrupt company that cares little for the lives of passengers on their planes. Its sad that so many had to lose their lives for us all to be made aware of this, condolences to the families who suffer those loses.

Me too. I know people who have worked on the project in Montréal and it's definetly a proud moment in their careers!

They invested at the end when there were no issue for Bombardier. Nothing is this aircraft was designed by Airbus, only the name!
