Delta maintenance technicians completed numerous temporary repairs. It is taking a ferry flight to Atlanta to accomplish permanent repairs.

Although not an unusual accident , all that area was severly affected by rain storms and hail for days and every meteo radar clearly showed the weather condition. Strange that it was cleared for take off

I was in Desio at the time of the incident, and the multiple tornadoes and hail damage was widespread, right out to Malpensa. Many tress were down, some on top of cars, and we suffered hail damage to the car, while driving back to Desio from Dinner. I flew out from Malpensa the next night, and the electrical storm just beyond the airport was stunning. I am surprised that the plane (Delta 767) actually operated when it did, rather than wait it out.

there was a delta 744 hail incident (n644us) in 2015 due to the hail damage and probably other factors including age it was written off and ferried to be scrapped

I remember when this happened. At the time, Italy had severe thunderstorms, because this summer has been incredibly hot. It was on national news, when the accident occured

Italy had some very bizarre weather 2 weeks ago. A camp site I stayed in (last year) had a hail storm 2 weeks ago with hail 500Grams , size of tennis balls . 100s of cars destroyed and mobile homes and caravans alike. This was in lake garda region. Probably same storm. From the pictures and videos I saw of the storm these hail "balls" would kill anyone out in them. These passengers are lucky.

Don't know why everyone is saying that it's because it's an old plane Delta has and it should be parked this could have happened to any new plane also all radar noses on planes are carbon or fiberglass it didn't happen because the plane was old if that's the case then there's a lot of B52s that should be parked then

Seems astonishing a plane that old is being used for long haul scheduled, thank goodness they didn't lose cabin pressure.

Simple Flying create excellent, succinct and to the point videos. However, their question at the end asking viewers to let them know their opinions is very nauseating when they never respond, like or refer to those comments in their videos. Due to this, the question reeks of 'leave a comment for the algorithm, but we don't really care what you think' breath. A pity, as it is the only thing that lets these well produced videos down.
