I was looking out the window of a Delta jet watching the baggage being loaded onto the plane. There were a number of service members who checked their duffel bags and I could not believe how they were thrown around and dropped. One had contents spill out including camera equipment and a couple pieces I did not know for sure. Well, one of the baggage handlers picked the items up hand stuffed them into another soldier’s bag. I could not believe it. I did report it to a flight attendant and she made an announcement for the service personnel to check their bags upon arrival.

The correct way to handle oversize items would be to unhook the back cart and position it alongside the belt loader, not needing then to be thrown on the ground and picked up by another

Granted this isn't possible for a golf team, but this is why I travel as light as possible: socks, underwear, phone charger, toothpaste, toothbrush, and deodorant. Anything else, I can either wear or get at my destination. My carry-on items can practically fit in a lunch bag.

Whatever you put your belongings in should be extremely protected and secure. Things are known to be thrown around and bags thrown on top of each other. We all knew this. What do you want them to do. Delicately place it down?

What's the problem ? Those bags are made to take a pounding. No way any of those clubs were damaged. I have a bag similar to those. I have tossed mine on the ground many times.

United at Houston AIH April 8th this year dropped my luggage in dirty water and unfortunately my suitcase is the old fashioned one that the heavy canvas is the only outer layer and the water what inside

Ya don’t fly with canvas bags. People fly with wine bottles in checked luggage and they break all the time. Also people fly with animals like dogs and cats and pigs and goats that pee inside the cargo pits. I’m a ramp agent I’ve seen it all. People even flying with garbage bags as checked luggage lolol we also handle bodies and radioactive materials

It would’ve been less effort to back up the cart or just hand them to the other guy so he didn’t have to bend down and pick them up again. I’m betting the guy that was tossing them has a bad attitude and is definitely not pursuing excellence.

@@logicplaguelol I work as a ramp agent. First off the sorting belts hit your bags way harder. Imagine how much force it takes to sort millions of bags weighing up to 150lbs each. You think they get babied all the way to the plane?? Hell nah. Then for it getting stacked in the cargo pits which are not even tall enough for you to be on your knees but the pit is 80ft long. And you the only one stacking. They get tossed. Anything you don’t trust being thrown down stairs. Don’t check. Carry it on
