Miriam Mandipira and the legendary "Delta Blues Band", founded 1968, have lately performed several concerts together - and with a very great success. Miriam is a real fantastic and phenomenal Blues-Gospel-Soul-Jazz singer, with a most beautiful voice, and a technique, that not many other singers can equal. She comes originally from Zimbabwe, but has performed in Denmark since 2007. This concert took place at the "PH Cafée", in connection with Copenhagen Blues Festival 2014.

Original credited variously Elli Jordan, William foster, and Etta James. However it was composed Etta took one of the most emotionally powerful songs of the 20th Century straight to the top. I liked how Manipira reworks the lyrics just slightly keeping them contemporary.

Hello! I watched this live over 5 times already..And Im sure I'm so in love with it! Her passion and her acting while singing just made me feel like I had to start covering this song.But there is a thing I am curious about.. What about the lyrics? I mean,the length of the original song (by Etta James) is 2:30 minutes,while this song lasts almost 10 minutes and there are some lyrics I couldn't find online at all! Also an artist called Layla Zoe coverd this song and she made it last almost 9 minutes. Can somebody explain me why there are so many lyrics? and where can i find them?

I can't give you an exact answear, but I know, that many artists sometimes, more or less rewrights the lyrics on songs they cover. I have heard Miriam sing this song at several ocations, and not always with the exact same lyrics. In my own opinnion, this version, performed by Miriam at this special night, is the the best and most intense version, I have ever seen and heard of this song.You can try to ask Miriam herself via her homepage. I can't garantee, but perhaps she will find the time to give you her answear on your question.

Imho. She has a good voice but she overdoes it, the lyrics are wrong and disturb the rhythm because the sentences are too long and no longer fit, the echo is terrible and the guitarist plays as wrong as possible, although the whole thing Song has only 2 chords, the solo is a simple A major scale. I like the bass player and the drummer. The croaking with the harmonica wasn't necessary either. But otherwise great, to be honest.
