@@shirothegamer7574 You can see Cid has blue lines in his hand because he's been doing something. Last scene in red he opens his closed eye which has that same circuit pattern. Apparently he needed to be stabbed or be in contact with Olivier to use whatever technique he was preparing with his closed eye. Perhaps he was "decoding" the magic pretty much the same as his shadow garden did with the files when they found a way out.

Cid was trying to communicate with her without words through the fight, the way he did with the witch when she was summoned. Thats why he said "A battle without a conversation is just tedious", even though the entire time he said nothing to her.

Thats true but mainly because he couldnt use magic to buff his speed so he had to defend with minimal moves thats also why he had to take the attack to get a direct shot.

Delta is my favorite out of the seven shadows because she just acts like a pet and then when she's fighting she acts like a rabid dog. Normally beast people in anime don't really act like the animal they're supposed to be but delta acts like a wolf like she's supposed to. She also acts differently to the different "leaders" of the pack like with alpha she gets scared and falls back immediately but with Cid she likes to fawn around him.

It wasn't mentioned in the anime and even in the source it is only mentioned indirectly, but Alpha whooped Delta's ass apparantly when Delta wanted to be second in command below Cid. That is why she 'submits' to alpha. She is all about the strength hierarchy.

Cid tells delta in the novel that she is vastly stronger than alpha physically and in terms of the amount of magic she has but she is incredibly dumb which is why he never taught her martial arts like he did with alpha and the others and is also the reason why alpha manages to beat her.

@@calebstephan2083 ooohhh cid did try to teach delta fencing and stuff, along with gamma, but he got so frustrated with them that he told them to just use brute force and swing the swords. in the novels he mentions how thinking about the memory of him training those two is too painful and gives him a headache

I took that to mean that the sanctuary was rejecting him pulling the sword out, so because he was pulling hard enough to pull it out, it sunk in deeper.

@@jagger1008 No, everything is a performance. He doesn't want to be the hero. Pulling the sword out is stereotypical hero stuff, he wants no part of that. He pushed it down nearly breaking it just so he can say the line of not being the chosen one. He then just wings the convo in his usual way with Aurora about what was said on the display that showed up. He was 100% faking it.

But the fact that the chosen hero is the only one to draw this kind of sword is just common sense. It's a time honored plot device.

Cid is keeping one eye shut as a "visual" reference (i think is anime only as a detail ) of him building up mana since there is even the scene of him trying to concentrate mana trough his hands for a moment.I'm pretty sure we will get the info about it in the next episode if it will not diverge from the source material.If someone wanna know that so badly i will try to explain it as a spoiler down. SPOILER: Actually yes Cid is as he says "Tempering" his mana to the point to be too dense for being sucked up by the sanctuary security system.He says that as it was a really easy task "If your mana is being just sucked up, you just need to temper it to the point is too dense to be sucked out" or something like that, in the Manga is a thing that is not very well explained but in the LN it says that not even Aurora that is considered to be the strongest Witch ever existed is able to do that and she was surprised too, it was not as simple as a task, exept you are Cid.

Just a info about why Delta is scared of Alpha (spoiler): . . . . . . . . . . . . . When Delta was found by Alpha and Cid, Delta tried to fight Alpha, but when she saw Cid, she knew that she would never win against Cid, so she summited to him like a dog does. Upon healing from possesion in Shadow Garden's HQ, Delta began to to think that this is her new pack and it was strong AF, but needed to determine the hierarchy of the pack. Saw Alpha like a second in command, and thought that she was stronger than Alpha, and demanded to Alpha to summit to her by showing her belly (like a dog does) and give the second in command to Delta. Alpha exploted and put Delta in her place. Another point: Cid's one eye closed thing, it is something anime does to show how Cid is tempering his magic. When Cid says to Aurora to wait a little long to see something happens, it is because he was tempering his mana to be harder to get sucked off, making it to be impossible for the Sanctuary to suck his mana.

Do remember it is actually Alpha who has always been doing all the shadow garden stuff... since Cid found Alpha he was just playing around, he does get serious with his playing around, but it is playing around... but as soon as he fed that story to Alpha she went all in... She IS 120% serious about it... so all the posterior additions to the team WERE probably really "trained" by her while Cid played his little rich boy role back at home... so they probably are all really scared of Alpha but Delta seems to be the one who messes up really often and has to be disciplined... which is why she is terrified of her...

I'm pretty sure Cid did at least try to teach them swordsmanship but the only two of the seven shadows that could pull it off and still keep at it are Alpha and Beta. Gamma was too clumsy, Delta was just too stupid and strong, Zeta was better at assassination, epsilon was better at honing magic and eta just slept. Out of all of shadow garden I'd say the two who are the most serious are Alpha and beta. So yes Alpha does run things but back when Cid kept up the Cult of Diablos gag he did train them.

I do not mean Cid did nothing of course... I am just saying Alpha probably did most of the heavy lifting... And also I mean it as a deduction considering what we did see in the anime... Of course Cid did train them that is how they became a le to do most of the things Cid can do.. I just mean like maybe Cid came once a week to teach them "today you will learn this" then alpha drilled it into them the other 6 days and she is probably the one that made sure to make them KNOW how "serious" their mission is...

@@alphaismywife6518 i don't know if it is Canon but in the game stories it said that Cid trained them in his sword style but gave up after delta being too strong and stupid to use it and Gamma being clumsy. Afterwards he told them to just go with the fighting style they felt comfortable with. Alpha however told them to keep training in Cid sword style because if they did it would be harder for people to identify them.

Gotta keep your shooting eye closed... He was probably keeping it closed to develop the magic he used at the end. Since it was inside the eyelid, it would be easier to control while the place was sapping magic. Shooting eye = when a soldier is marching at night you keep your shooting eye closed so that a flash/light etc doesn't ruin your night vision for the eye you shoot with. Works great if you are walking/driving on a road at night as well. Just shut one eye as a car passes.

Cid had his eye closed because he was storing magic and when he finally opened it is when he unleashed it. Remember what they said last episode, they can't use magic when they get close or at to the center of the Sanctuary which is why the girls' slime body suit is coming off.

First of all sid is at the very center of the holly grounds so magic obstruction is severe. The reason he had an eye closed was probably a metaphor for him trying to figure a way to use magic again. As an extra piece of information Delta is the strongest in pure raw strength she is also the stupidest and cuyes of them all. And in the novel she was able so catch a sword with her teeth and break it in the fight of this episode.

It doesn't necessarily need to be Alpha who draws the sword. If there is any truth to what Cid said in the second episode, everyone who suffered from possession is descended from at least one of the three heroes. This could mean that any elf in Shadow Garden could potentially draw that sword. Granted last week's episode revealed that the source of the possession was the Cult experimenting on people 1,000 years ago. It is possible someone other than the three heroes survived long enough to have children.

Not just any elf in Shadow Garden, literally anyone in Shadow Garden, including Cid himself. As well as Alexia, Claire, Iris and Rose, and anyone else who ever has been or will be affected by possession

It's not stated whether that's direct descendants of Olivier or all three heroes, but given that it was her sword, you're probably right that only the elves would be allowed to. Then again, Cid could most likely just tear it out with nothing but his brute strength, just as he could escape the sanctuary at any time but sticks around to see the next main event ^^

I really do like how Alpha makes sure her preys dead (except Nelson since he’s gonna die anyway) and lectured Delta to do the same while her ancestor, Olivier, even though she was ordered to kill Cid, she just hit him really hard and standing there doing jack shit when Cid keeps standing up and emphasizing that he’s still alive.

Cid's not really posing in that fight with Olivier. Remember that he's at the core of the Sanctuary. The bald dude says that the closer you are the stronger the effect of magic drain. So, it's actually impressive that Cid lasted that long against an opponent as strong as Olivier with magic and him without magic. As op as he is, he still requires at least some magic against such a strong opponent. So yea, Cid wasn't pretending. He was just so good that even without magic a memory of one of the strongest person in the world with magic had difficulty defeating him

not saving mana. concentrating it in lines throughout his body (hence the bit with the lines on his hands), all going to the eye and staying there to be concentrated together even further. The area doesn't nullify magic. It only drains magic. However, it cannot drain something that is refined to be so small that the drain wouldn't be able to grasp it. Think of it like draining water through a straw. After a while, the residues that are left cannot be drained easily. In this case, people aren't able to use magic from so little magic energy, and having a lot of magic concentrated into the space of very little magic is insanely difficult to do. Cid however can do it. This is also how he used some magic while in the school under the effect of the magic draining artifact. The only difference is that the one in the sanctuary is more powerful and thus it takes time for Cid to be able to accumulate enough magic into the concentrated form for him to have some to use.

Aurora has been painted as evil... but by the Church, who are not exactly impartial witnesses. There is still a *lot* to the actual truth to be revealed which could recontextualise a lot of what we "know". I would recommend you rewatch the Iris/monster/Alpha fight from earlier in the series (ep 4?), and think about what it might imply

Although it is an anime only thing. In the source novels he was working on increasing the density of his magic in order to be able to use it and I think him having his eye closed symbolizes that. When he opens his eye in the last scene his magic is clearly back, so one can imagine what will happen in the next episode.
