What a great answer he gave. I was a Marine many moons ago and Force Recon and Navy Seals were always who I looked up to as being the "best". Having done some contract work overseas, and being around former SF, Seals, Rangers, Marines, Etc, there are so many talented young men serving in each of the services but Delta Force I find is more disciplined, secretive, and professional. Delta Force doesn't seek the limelight and Hollywood like Seals do and that shows their discipline. Not knocking any of the others but just my two cents.

You judge the teams by a few bad apples, most of their missions will never be known. They are just as secretive as CAG, both have ex members who have written books.

Most DELTA guys can't swim let alone lock from a submarine or know how to breach a ship since all ships are different. Interchangeable my a$$. Maybe in Afghanistan and Iraq.

We know so much about SEALs, SF, Rangers, etc. There have been television shows about the selection process and training capabilities for many of these special operations groups except one, DELTA.

not DEVGRU. That is not open to the public. Both Tier 1 is very classified. SEALs is 1 community with Tier 2 and Tier 1. Tier 2 on both branches are pretty open except Tier 1.

Navy just does leadership differently. If you're an e-4, you're an NCO and have responsibility for others and you don't just sit there forever. I've worked purple and often this conversation usually lands with people not realizing their missions and desired capabilities are different. Kudos to those here who recognize that the ask of a SEAL team is different than the ask of a Ranger unit/Delta/Green Beret etc.

I agree, I was regular military, Naval Air , and once you make it to E-4 in the Navy you are the leader for the lower enlistments and the higher you go, the more responsibility and senior leader you are. I saw the difference when I went from E-3 to E-4. My job in my rate totally change and the Navy will not consider you for promotion for E-5 until you have plenty of time as an E-4 and checkling leadership requirements. Navy is Naval combat , totally different than Army but you can say the same thing about the Air Force and Coast Guard.

As someone who has served 15 years in the Army. Having an infantry background before becoming a special operator gives you a tactical and leadership advantage. No offense to the other special operators who took a different path.

A close personal friend of mine was 3/75th Ranger, then Delta. But being in Maryland (Naval Academy) I have to root for the Navy.... Perhaps not a great reason, but that's what I got.

St6 was technically disbanded in the late 80s, mostly because Marcinko created a unit that was less then desirable. And it was replaced by Devgru, which was meant to course correct all of that. And to create a unit that is really up to tier 1 standards.

As someone who’s watched countless hours of interviews of seals and delta. The biggest take away: seals are modern savages, death is their trade. Delta guys are surgeons of war, hyper intelligent perfectionists. Delta certainly more articulate, more presentable.

Marine infantry can try out for delta😂 army infantry can also try out for delta😂 national guard can also try out for delta😂 and btw, there has never been in history that a Devgru guy left for Delta😂 the seals that try out for Delta are the seals who didn’t make it to Devgru😂😂😂 and Kevin Holland is an exception u know why? Bcoz Holland was from dev, left dev to have a better life, 9/11 happened (which u a keyboard warrior would’ve not enlisted😂) enlisted in the army, tried out for cag and got in. Different story dofus, get your facts straight😂😂 dev has better budget, no dev operator would give up his slot for the same team who does the same as them, with also a fact that, that same team don’t even do tier 1 maritime operations like them😂

You guys realize that you can't go to Selection for DEVGRU unless you're a SEAL. You can go to it for Delta from any military unit. That's why you've never seen a delta operator go to ST6 and why you have seen ST6 guys go to delta. doesn't work the other way around by rule.

Jessica Lynch, Usama Bin Laden, Captain Phillips, Jessica Buchanan, Development Group got all the big time missions that were going to have a lot of media coverage and that definitely bothered Delta. That c said, Delta would have pulled it off just the same. I can’t believe this guy said you never hear of Delta getting in trouble 😂 just google William Lavigne, the Army knew about his constant drug use and didn’t even question him when he killed a Green Beret in front of that that Green Beret’s children which that Green Beret was one of his best friends. Except Captain Phillips. Delta doesn't do high missions in the Sea. Anything that the NAVY is in charge, they will call their Tier 1 or 2 Seals. All SEALs are Combat Divers. Only 1 out of 6 Army SF are. Of course Delta gets in trouble especially in war, it's Army after all. Look in how the Rangers and the Army handled Pat Tillman. A lot of lies and cover ups.

Richard Marcinko was the first commander of Seal team 6 and he asserted that he had no use for any man who would not or could not drink heavily. I can’t imagine how this might create problems given alcohol is a gateway drug and is used to self medicate numerous conditions.

There are around 1,000 members of Delta and only around 300 members of seal team 6. That gives you a leading indicator of how elite each one is and how difficult it is to be one. Yes I served. I was in the Marines. I have been entrenched with both Seals and SAS.

@@RANDO4743 DELTA take their majority of selection from Rangers and Green Berets and if they need from other branches in a war to fill the gaps they do. DEVGRU only takes from SEALS because they want all of them to pass BUDS and be on the same pipeline and train in the same community for years and know that the guys left and right to you know that you will NEVER QUIT. It's a trust issue. It makes the team tighter in war. Just because you put different people from different communities together for the first time, it doesn't mean they will be tight together on their first deployment. Different thoughts of philosophies.
