There are women in Delta's G Squadron (AFO/Delta's Intelligence/Recon Unit) often because women are much more effective when it comes to HUMNIT compared to men specially in middle eastern countries. Most of these women come from the US Cultural Support Team's Programs (which are commonly attached to green berets or Rangers) or Military Intelligence or what not. This also can be applied to DEVGRU's Black Squadron, Intelligence Support Activity too when it comes to Tier 1 units. They are used in support roles within the Tier 1 unit's intelligence squadron.

Hold your hand out in front of you and pretend to be holding a pistol. Swing your arm to the outside as far as you can and see how far behind you it can go. Now turn your hand upside down and see how much extra movement you can get in that arc. That would be the reason behind the technique described but whether you would actually employ it is a whole different question. Clearing a room solo maybe? If you're not worried about hitting something that you don't want dead then it could be used. You can swing your arm faster than your whole body so it might be the difference between getting a shot off before they do.

The portion of that show when they are in the shoot house he is trying to teach her about reactive shooting and bio mechanics. There are many times in CQB where there is a barrier or reason of limitation where you are not able to fully present and engage your threat (more of a react to threat and move, dynamic versus static threat). This is more of a lesson and confidence builder. Not necessarily teaching of an SOP on how to engage and clear targets.

*First, "Lioness" is a fictionalized story. Not such a unit exists. Also, up to this date, no US special operations units have engaged in a firefight against the Mexican military and/or police. Interestingly enough, in the first season, the CIA "Lioness" guys beat the crap out of CAG (Delta) operators in a bar fight... Yeah, "very credible." Second, while it is true that there are women in special operations, the character played by Zoe Saldaña is unrealistic. She shouts like a madwoman at high-ranking officers, disrespecting authority and command. Saldaña's screaming, bulging her veins up out of her neck, pretending to be tougher than a man, is annoying!!! No high-rank officer would take her sh*t just because she is a CIA "special operator agent." If you can overlook all that, the series is entertaining and interesting. By the way, tactics and movement are realistic, but that doesn't mean the "Lioness" series is.*

First and foremost, The show is a TV show. Its a fictional work of art which consists of drama and action for entertainment. Creative liberties are always taken to maintain attention. Shout out to the real female service members that performed their difficult duties with honor. Thank you for your service. This is the wiki info from the first lines on the page of Team Lioness: "female United States Marines attached to combat units in Iraq and Afghanistan. They were utilized to respect local customs regarding the prohibition of men touching or searching local women during operations." From the research I have done and not in any way discredit their service. Their role was exactly that. To give an intelligence dynamic for gathering that males would have difficulties obtaining. They had a special purpose just like other special operation units like the USAF Special reconnaissance, which is to not to kick in doors to eliminate the enemy even though they have that capacity. As for "Lionesses" to be trained on multiple weapon systems to the capability of offensive direct action is a stretch imo because of the purpose of the Lioness mission. Sure being trained and knowledgeable on multiple weapon systems is understandable for self defense and the in-field encounters. To my understanding, for a Lioness having to resort to a special weapon system means a security failure or intelligence failure occurred because that's what delta is for or a SMU. Lionesses are a piece on the same chess board that delta, SMU, GRS are on for their purpose to be utilized effectively.

Delta, DevGru and Recon Marines are taught to shoot from any position and from any angle and that sometimes is with the weapon upside down. Now the Kill House Scene also takes a second to talk about using Optics on Pistols which make handgun shooting a little easier once you get used to the Optic on the Pistol.

If you run across with your wrist erected. You will notice that your flow of motion as you run across. With your hand straight is not fluid. Therefore having your gun upside down but your knuckle faced where you need to out the round. Is more fluid. As when you bring your hand back to the resdy position as you are currently running. It sets in the correct position more fluid and quicker. Run across your hall way into the bathroom. Try it both ways you will see how that feels. Hope i explained it correctly. One of the reasons special forces are so successful at what they do is the high degree of coordination among the team. In other words each member of the team has specific predesignated targets agreed upon before the first shot is fired. This way they can take out all the enemy combatants with as few shots fired as possible which also aids in how fast they can execute the operation. This also has the added benefit of minimizing reaction times for the combatants. In most cases it is over before any enemy combatant has had time to process what is going on. This has to do with how people process a rapid explosion of activity when they were accustomed to the calm and quite just moments prior to this. This is why the flash bang grenades were developed in the first place, they overwhelm the senses with light and sound and create a state of confusion for several seconds which is all a highly trained team needs to disable them.

Actually that was an initial misconception. It was the FBIs HRT (Hostage Rescue Team), who are a Tier-1 domestic special operations unit that is based on Delta and a near perfect mirror image of the unit.

The only thing that stood out to me from the series, is how they act towards each other, like it’s all pretty aggressive even within the team. I find it hard to believe that that is true, maybe some have beef but they seem to be looking for beef! Also how the main character absolutely smacks the shit out of another dude, I wonder if that is something that happens a lot or even at all! Since you need to trust your team so why would you beef with your squad!

@KillMonger592 The late Richard NMI Marcinko US Navy, O-5 ret explained a few points- 📚 1990s era. Some "tier 1" types get loan-out. Some get "sheep dip" into OGAs or military contract firms. Some do "undercover" 🥸 missions. Delta/CAG called some assignments, singleton. 📂

I would say after the authenticity of Seal Team, as described by Tyler Grey, people are now used to seeing the real deal and can spot substandard weapons handling etc and it takes them out of the show or they lose interest. Certainly ex-military would notice.

First and foremost, this collection of shooters are not "Delta Force Operators". These individuals are part of Ground Branch (now division), of the CIA's Special Activities Center. They engage in combat actions under USC Title 50 (Intelligence & Covert Action) versus USC Title 10 (Military Forces). SAC pulls most of their personnel from Tier 1 level units found in Joint Special Activities Command. However once a part of SAC, their classic military role has ended. In the TV program, their appearance is problematic. The last thing they want is to look like would be a bunch of bikers shooting up a locale. They are clandestine operators who make every effort to avoid detection even when entering into a firefight. Can they shoot that well? Most can make amazing shots, but even the worst gunman or police officer can land a lucky shot or two and make a successful operation that much more difficult. The "Third Option" is quiet but lethal.
@wllmdvsjrАй бұрын
That’s not who he was talking about. The character Taylor Sheridan plays, the character Max Martini plays, and the operator who dies in the Rio Grande scene are Delta. You need to actually watch the show then watch this video again and pay attention to what he says. He clearly states the few guys that augment the CIA team are the Delta operators.

Pistol CQB is primed and unprimed. Primed something isn't right your weapon is in the ready. Unprimed your in standing mode and you have to draw and react. Many shooters have strong side and weak side but in true CQB fashion you have right side and a left and your weapon skills are equal which you must build and maintain. The the other guy have strong and weak it increases your % of survival. The upside down shooting refers to firing one handed around hard cover. Some people are really good at OFF skills or unique shooting techniques but those skills aren't made up. Through trial and error do they develop and operators us long gun only a handful us sidearms.

Question RE: Lioness. I recently viewed the series and remember someone on your podcast say that the Delta aspects seemed accurate. I am curious about the cyclic rate of the rifles they carry. It seems very fast, like Mac11 fast. Is this realistic or just Hollywood? Seems like it would empty magazines FAST. Thank you.

Answer to upside down the gun question. NO - wouldn't happen. They knew the target was there...(remember he tells the girl to come in "swinging"). They also didn't identify it...could have been a hostage. Never changed up course. Not one of those girls could kick in a door or make a life of carrying a "kit" with a weapon and bag. Looks good

I thought that first episode with the hostage rescue in Mexico was badass. I think they made it a little silly thought when they stopped the car to light up like 7 vehicles, with like 3 of them being technicals with heavy machine guns mounted in the truck beds. Those machine tunes would have been a serious problem IRL and lite them up.
