Her senses, physique and mana reserves are superhuman. She is just held back by having no technique. However, her instincts, tracking ability and stealth skills are some of Shadow Garden's best, I think Cid mentions only Alpha is better at stealth.

It's even more funny in manga, because Cid claims, he took preparations in case they've sent Delta. He took big shower and put perfumes. Also, fun bit was when Delta said, she's going to report back to Alpha, Cid, to stop her, grabs her by the tail. She then is drawn like a cartoon wolf pouting "not by the tail!". Cutesy.

Saying this so any who come after, the difference from the manga to the anime has been improvements. The train allows for more interesting interactions since it has to be close quarters. This scene and when Alpha fight him too have got to some of the best scenes. Especially when he knocks Alpha off the train and she’s like don’t leave me behind. It’s really funny to me since it’s literally as it’s metaphorical. Makes the anime a little bit better knowing this exists only here.

Honestly, the John Smith part of the arc made no sense to me, but then I realized I was thinking like this was any other shonen anime. When I thought about it, I realized that Cid only does things for two reasons: it looks cool, or it makes him money. After a while of being Shadow, being some secret agents with string powers is a nice change of pace.

He also did it because he wanted to collapse the banking system that was being built up, thought the girls were getting to preoccupied with business side of things. But managed to turn it around to crush all the competition securing the bank without issue.

Yup. This is why I liked eminence in the shadow as a LN. It plays the tropes by heart and makes them work as parody. I feel like people can't see the jokes sometimes and think it has to make sense. It's so obviously meant to be batshit insane.

@@BygoneT That is probably the biggest reason I enjoy the seires in general. While I haven't touched the LN, I have read the manga and seen the anime. It's meant to be so far out there, and the way it is done is just outright hilarious. I also find the way that everyone misunderstands literally everything else to be just as funny. Everyone else just sees him as though he's thinking two to ten steps ahead, but in reality, he just sees the Tropes and acts on them accordingly. It's even better because I notice and often do the same thing irl. It doesn't always work perfectly, but you'd be surprised how often it works at all.

Funny thing, this fight was fully anime only. In the manga, Cid puts a lot of effort into removing his scent so Delta doesn't immediately recognize him, but on the first interaction recognizes him anyways. This doesn't lend well to anime though typically, as it was mostly internal dialogue, hence the fight scene.

Action sequences are bad ass and very creative in anime. But often, the human element just seems off. Even when I lived in Japan, people don't act like some of the personas you see often in anime. Makes it kind of difficult to watch. Don't get me wrong, anime like Ghost in the Shell: SAC, Inuyashiki, Arslan, Parasyte have characters that actually feel....believable. I still don't understand what the bleeding nose means when confronted with a woman.

Normally overpowered protagonists annoy me, but in this show's case it's funny. This guy could rule the world or maybe even destroy it if he wanted to. Or he could actively try to save it and probably would not need Shadow Garden's help. But he just wants to roleplay in different scenarios while also keeping his main persona for his own entertainment the entire time.

This reminds me of how my cousin's Cane Corso was with me a few weeks ago. He hadn't seen me in years so he was grumpy and doing his protective growls and posturing around the house but as soon as he got a good whiff of me everything melted. Instantly going back to just a giant slobbering baby who followed me around with his toys, thinks he is small enough to be a lap dog and gets upset when you stop scratching his chin or patting his sides. Even my cousin was suprised at how fast he buckled. 🤣
