I remember a report piece about the new generation of Isekai/Magic world protagonists. They gave Cid a Score of 8.6 out of 10 on a power scale. He ranks 4th just barely .2 behind Ikki from Chilvry of a Failed Knight. As powerful as he is, his weaknesses brought his score down. His key weakness is the fact that he's so obsessed with being the Eminence in Shadow to see that he really is. His abilities rival Rimaru but his constant focus on being a Background character is what holds him back. 1 through 5 were amazing with 1 being Rimaru, 2 being Hajime from Arifureta, and 3 being Ikki from A Tale of Worst One.

"Their reliance on magic made them forget to learn how to properly fight without it" Not the exact words but basically what Shadow said...and I kinda love that explanation. Why would medical science ever evolve if there were literal magic that could easily handle most of it? No way we would have ever actually found penicillin if we could just make a tiny prayer and the disease just up and vanished. It is a fun explanation for why the swordmanship, hand to hand combat and the use of magical equipment never really got past the basics....Though the fact no one came to realize slime could be used the way Shadow uses it is still a bit weird...I mean it wont matter now, since the species he uses have more or less been hunted to death, but it is suprising no one found out earlier than he did...

Alpha is literally one of the strongest characters in Eminence of shadow. She is second to only Cid. Alpha is the only one Delta is scared of except cid. One time she challenges Alpha for her position and lost badly. That's why in season 1 you see how scared delta was of alpha when she gave her the look or order. This is a passage from Eminence in shadow Wiki, "Alpha is the second-strongest member of Shadow Garden, surpassed only by Shadow. Her strength is so unchallenged that none within the organization dare oppose her, including her fellow "Shadows", and even Cid was impressed by how much she had grown. Rose and Alexia noted that while Shadow is the ultimate threshold of strength, Alpha is at least at the level of his footing".

In the manga, Cid did mention that Zeta is the most talented of the 7. She can learn anything after seeing it once and could rival Alpha, but she gets bored easily and doesn't master the skills that she learned. She's like Jack-of-all trade, master of none.

The strangest thing is the Cid is clearly a highly talented and intelligent person. Even before he got reborn he was highly skilled and able to track down professional criminals. And afterward he came up with all the unique magic, and he taught all his skills and knowledge to the Seven with enough competence that they became the powerhouses that they are. So why can't he see what's right in front of his eyes? He's literally seen whole armies of cult members. I know he thinks the members of Shadow Garden are humoring him in thanks for curing them and taking them in. But there must be a limit to that in his eyes, surely?

I always assumed The 7 Shadows can be as powerful as they choose to be (2nd only to Shadow) since the slime Cid gave each of them is only limited by their imagination. Nice to learn there's more Depth.

I don't think that the slime that they got from Cid was special. I think everyone uses the same slime but with enough practice and magical prowess you can make it adapt other shapes and colors. For instance, when the seven shades were yourger you can see that their slime suits are pretty plain and each one is the same, but their adult version have more specific traits. Only Alpha has a "plain" looking suit but mostly because she is laser focus on leading the organization and doesn't care much about asthetics (this last part is speculation from my side)

One other reason why the 7 shadows have grown so powerful is Cid's penchant for making up explanations or slipping into Chuuni-mode. "I read that in 3 seconds" = 7 shadows now consider the possibility of using magic to speed up one's thought process. Or (in the light novels) (Spoiler warning), Cid explaining how he understands Japanese by making up something about "all languages having the same basic form and pattern", and Beta (and later Eta) believing that and putting it into practice to actually learn Japanese quickly. Their faith in everything he says makes them force themselves to grow stronger, smarter, and more powerful so that they can (in their minds) "keep up" with him.

According to Volume 5, Zeta and Delta have a cat-dog relationship and are bitter rivals. Their, uhh, "fights" are always brutal, and the one showed in the volume caused a portion of the school to be wrecked. In terms of combat, I'd say Zeta can beat Delta high-diff, and even if she can't beat Alpha, the fact that Zeta doesn't respect her as much as the others do means that she also dares to fight her.

I didn't read the LN, but in one of the more recent Manga chapters Cid states that Zeta might be able to defeat Delta, but she always loses interest in their fights shortly after they start, never bringing them to a conclusion. I believe Zeta can definitely beat Delta, but not as she is now. Like Cid said at one point, Zeta's main weakness is that she doesn't master skills to their fullest extent (for instance her tail being visible with the mist form), she just kind of picks them up at a level close to mastery. If she took time to master skills she could beat Delta and probably Alpha, truth be told.

In epi 2 or 3 when he was called by beta to save his sister he was surprised that he was being summoned as he said alpha is already pretty strong so like why do I need to go. Not to mention that if you are directly "blessed" by Shadow, you are immediately deemed stronger than most of the numbers almost the same as the Shades who were also blessed by him. It's just a matter on how you'll be able to control the magic. Iirc, there are only a few numbers blessed by Cid himself aside from the 7. Rose and 559 (Victoria) are two of them. 559 defeated 89 despite the difference in numbers, it is because she was blessed by him while Rose is just a beginner. 559 also feels some kind of seniority over Rose since she's been blessed by Cid way before Rose.

I feel the same way. For example, in the LN, during Claire's kidnapping, Cid throws the knife at random at the map thinking he's just trying to act cool, but he explains it as something like "I just threw it where it felt right" (the anime differs here by saying he missed). Makes me think he subconsciously does know all this stuff, even if he doesn't realize it on a conscious level.

To the rest of his people, he is considered a real genius for his "wisdom" even though to us he's just using our world's knowledge, what matters is there is no one else like him in their world that we know of so far that his knowledge is considered impactful enough because without Cid those actual geniuses won't even have a foundation to work on and likely not even accomplish as much as they did. From all these things with "wisdom" and strength he backs up, he is considered a real genius in that world. For comparison of luck, King from OPM is considered lucky since he doesn't have real feats yet people just assume things from him, Cid on the other hand gives people concrete reasons for others to believe why he is a genius in their eyes.

Zeta is definitely #3 among the Shadows behind only Alpha and Delta. In book 5 she and Delta have a fight, which according to Cid is a pretty common event. That alone would tell you how strong she is. Delta wins their fight and is clearly physically stronger, but Zeta can completely hide her presence and Delta can't find her. This is something even Shadow can't manage. And when she does decide to run away Delta can't catch her. Zeta is certainly strong. her skill is comparable to alpha and She has unique capabilities to copy any magic or skill she found interesting. (she was called copycat by delta for a reason) it makes her very predominant which led her to have such a high influence to create her secret faction. unfortunately she lacks any determination and lost interest as quickly as she got one.

I would say you're definitely underestimating the power of magic control. Magic control also let's Epsilon do things like precisely aim magic-infused items like daggers, as we see her doing in the anime, time speed bursts and quite likely give her one of the best controls of the ever-flexible slime suits. In newest novel Eta gets some screen time at the end and does not disappoint when it comes to fighting. Spoils: In the newest novel eta beat beta. She fights using tools shes invented. It took alpha to come and stop her. Of course it wasn't a fight to the death or anything and there was alot of comedic elements but it was the first good look at her in action and it was not disappointing.

Ok this information was left out about zeta : zeta can go toe to toe with delta in a fight they just never have a clear winner because zeta would just get bored and leave it's also why some of her techniques are unfinished and flawed. This has been said by cid himself. Source both Ln and Manga About Gamma she has tried to be trained by shadow but her problem is her athletic skills she is clumsy as hell and basically on the same level as darkness from kunosuba she has power but can't hit anything. However the times where she has gotten kills were mostly due to just plain luck she's just not to be messed with when it comes to turning shadows ideas into bank.

zeta could be (aside alpha) the strongest member of shadow garden. Her wits and talent are second to none but she has a fatal flaw: she's a cat, and with that she's a total lazy ass and can't be bored to master anything fully. She's still a very powerful contender to delta, but her lack of focus and interest just don't allow her to win against her.

shadow garden is one of the best anime groups to enter anime even surpassing the gotei 13 from bleach and the tomb of nazaric from overlord in hierarchy structure...my only concern is that the story focuses too much on shadow and cid too use its potential too the fullest....it would be fun too get an arc that goes deep into the inner workings of the organisation such as an exploration of their base or even a daily mission against the cult of diablos

How high do you need to go in the Garden's hierarchy before you reach someone who can consistently take down an underworld boss, like Juggernaut? Each shade seems to be a little weaker than a legend like Vamp Queen or a Hero clone, and then everyone else is way below that. Iris was the strongest knight in Midgar but pretty weak compared to a shade, or even weaker than a random number it seems.

My thing with Rose is her Demon Possession was cured by Cid. The only others he directly cured are the Seven Shades & his sister, Claire. The Named Numbers & Numbers were cured by either Alpha or Epsilon, & are weaker. Rather than being stronger she is more talented but also way more lazy, she picks up a new technique/weapon/fighting style extremely easily, reaches a high level extremely fast, then get bored and move on before gaining full mastery over it. There is also the exception of Victoria in terms of strength compared to her number. Since she was healed by Cid directly. The Shades think that she is almost at their level. Rose and Akane will probably be very strong as well given this. His sister Claire potentially may become really powerful if she had been trained by him. I think it was in the web novel or manga that they mention that she did pick up a few tricks from Cid even in his mob persona.

From what i understand Victoria was around the level of the seven shadows when both parties were kids and before she joined Shadow Garden but because of their special trainings a big gap was created between them, with shadow healing her and her receiving the training of shadow garden the gap is probably much lower but i don't remember any mention of comparison between them after she joined SG, she is definitly much weaker than Alpha, Delta and Zeta and probably weaker than Beta and Epsilon but I could see her around Gamma and Eta

I thought that Eta was the weakest mostly because of her attitude but also from more focus on experiments and projects and letting others do the testing of her projects, and because of that i think that didnt even train as much as the rest of Shade's, And yes, even considering Gamma' s most obviously weakness and as AniNews said her intuition, i think she could still beat Eta mostly because of two reasons: First: It said that Gamma is as smart as Eta but Gamma Inteligence is more focused around strategic combat when Eta's more focused as scientist, so this should at least give a little advantage if come to a combat. Second: (here i gonna use info i saw from the gatha game so if isnt cannon you can negate everything i write from now on) From what I saw it looked tha Eta also don't have intuition as a fighter and adding what i wrote above about her attitude and everything else, it is possible that she have the lowest battle prowess from all the Shades
