A cooled, dedicated astronomy camera is such a gamechanger it is hard to describe. I used a modified T5i too for about two years and I was really happy with the results it produced. I bought a Player One Poseidon C-Pro a few months back and the difference in quality just can't be compared.

What makes it more crazy is the non-existed bloated stars and the texture of the nebulae it can come out with. Great recommendation, Walt!! 🤩🤩

These kinds of filters are a game changer. I just got my first actual rig with an ASI294MC and a Svbony dual band filter and it blows me away with how much it brings out all that hydrogen

Speaking of the shirt, it was funny to see the footage I shot when I first got the filter compared to just this past week. I was able to wear a t-shirt at night and by the end of the video I'm wearing a coat in my house.

Great review! Ive seen a couple of peeps sayin these filters help even in very dark skies, i would agree to some extent as they will also block reflection bits and faint dust and IFN! Dont be scared to go for more minutes exposure in the city, although that band seems very odd, maybe sensor related? Check it out with your new 294mc pro. You should get a filter wheel and an S2 O3 filter now to create SHO palette and help us with the workflow. Thanks Walt! PS: what was the last targets name? Very cool one.

That dark band has always been a problem with my Canon camera when shooting in light polluted areas. I wish I knew what causes it. The last shot was the Tadpole Nebula!

Good review Walt. I live in the UK and it is the VAT which runs at 20% that makes everything expensive. I use a lot of Altair Astro products, I have in fact just bought one of their 115mm f7 refractors though I think this is the same scope as the one sold in the US under the Astro Tech brand. Their high end filters look really good but are also very expensive. I use their 6nm narrow band filters and are very happy with them.

what would be (in your opinion) the best solution for shooting Galaxy in Bortle 4-5 regions. I noticed how dark the sky looked at night a year ago when I put a L-Extreme in my light train. It was amazing. Glad to see that they have a HA-OIII and SII-OIII combo available.

Hi Walt!! Happy New Year. Great video as usual. Quick question. I have a Canon drop-in filter adapter. Does this 6nm filter for Ha and O3 from Altair fit in that or I need a special filter adapter? Other than Altair, does any other company make the Ha-O3 Bandpass filters that can use with the Canon’s drop in filter adapter? Thanks.

Even at this price, filters are costly. Seems every month a new one is reviewed. I'm in bortle 8-9, so no doubt this would benefit me. Im using the optolong L-enhance now. Comments about the SV220 peaked my interest. Its $130 right now. But the Altair has documentation. Is the bandpass acuracy of the SV220 as good (repeatable) with all pieces?

Great images, Walt. Do you use a filter drawer on your "optical train?" Also, did you polar align without the filter?
@deltaastrophotography10 ай бұрын
I don't have a filter drawer yet. I just screw it into the flattener of my telescopes. And I do polar align with it. Works just fine with five to ten second exposures.

@deltaastrophotography10 ай бұрын
A friend of mine has that filter. He had trouble at first but started increasing his exposures as well. For me that filter would probably be overkill. You saw how I can get five minute subs with no filter and have zero light pollution problems. I should have said something in the video about increasing exposure time with these filters. Thanks for bringing it up! Cheers!
