Nice explanation! I think it's nicer this way too. Unfortunately it does feel like a slight buff, and I don't think it needed that.

can you attack the same target multiple times by just move in and move out? Since the range of spell is 15ft so you won't trigger attack opportunity if your area just touch the monster in 15ft.

@@wingw3844 a creature can only be forced to make the saving throw (and thus take the damage) once per turn, as written in the spell description. We’re essentially doing this on multiple turns by using our reaction.

Isn't this spell way more op now?

@@pgirardi it’s certainly stronger! Especially because you’re much more likely to be able to damage all the enemies with it. If you start to double up the damage with the Ready action, your AoE damage is quite significant; equivalent to a Fireball every round with a 3rd level casting. There is the downside of costing your reaction and action to do so; there is a trade off. The single target damage is a little worse compared to 2014 assuming you were using forced movement on your turn; you could get damage from your action, bonus action, and 2 triggers with the right setup. It’s comparable or better if the enemies give you that 3rd proc though.
