Both Queen fights are battles where FIGHTing is actually more efficient without having negative consequences. Hitting the acid shield (with the FIGHT command or Susie's Rude/Red buster) breaks it faster than ACTING, and GIGA Queen takes damage from punches already, so FIGHTing is free damage to reduce her HP faster. In general in undertale and deltarune, FIGHTing does not have any negative consequence as long as you don't bring the target's HP to 0.

Breaking the acid shield with violence has no negative consequences, but freeing berdly with attacks does change some stuff I also feel compelled to mention Undertale also has a fight with a boss where you literally CAN'T mercy, it's just more _dramatically conveyed_ than putting a big X over the mercy meter.

Let's be fair, Deltarune also has Ralsei tell you to punch Queen. It's a Punch-Out! reference, but it's a Punch-Out! reference made by the party pacifist!

Undertale does a couple of times trick you on the 'mercy via reduce to 0' but then having zero be WAY closer than you think.

And thus we “finish” off Chapter 2 much like we did Chapter 1. And to celebrate, here’s your regular assortment of fun facts to go along with them: - Werewerewires are “wireless” versions of Werewires that do not turn into plugboys when spared. The cone on their head resembles a WiFi symbol when viewed from the side. They are also a unique encounter, like Tasque Manager, meaning they do not respawn after getting spared. - At the top of Queen’s mansion we loop around to a stage element we’ve seen at the start of the Cyber field: plugs shooting bullets onto narrow paths. It’s like poetry, it rhymes. - Queen’s "New Social Media" attack randomly picks four of several words to throw at your SOUL. Among those are "FAMILY", "GUY", "FUNNY", and "MOMENTS", which appear in that order in the game code. They reference the "Family Guy Funny Moments" is a photo montage meme. - The voices for both Queen and Tasque Manager are actually done by Toby Fox. - In the Japanese version of Deltarune, all of Queen’s LMAO remarks are replaced with "WWW" and "草 (kusa / grass)", since those are how Japanese people express laughing while texting. In addition, all of Queen’s dialogue in Japanese is surrounded by HTML comments () - “Determination,” that’s a word Undertale players are all too familiar with, but which has been conspicuously absent in this game… until now. In Undertale “Determination” is a power that allows human SOULs to persist after death (and also to SAVE). Monsters also have a small amount of it, but never too much, as their SOUL-less bodies can barely handle it when in excess, which if it is in excess, results in the monster’s body melting. What role Determination plays in this game beyond what Queen is saying has yet to be… DETERMINED. (yes, I am a natural comedian) - In the GIGA Queen battle, the newly improved thrash machine is back for more (this time fighting for us), and once again some of its moves differ depending on the parts you chose, specifically the head part. So don’t mind me if I list them off: LaserMode (Laser head): "Fast Attacks" Increases damage somewhat and allows for faster punches for a turn afterwards SwordMode (Sword head): "Power up each hit" Increases damage moderately and makes each successive hit stronger, until the next miss. FireMode (Flame head): "Power Attacks" Increases damage from attacks afterwards (with about 420 initial damage on Phase 1). DuckMode (Duck head): "Sucky Attacks" Gives duck orbitals that heal the machine by 2 HP per hit, or 4 HP for hitting back the final attack. Duck Aura also heals 35 HP upon initial hit but does not deal as much damage (about 150 Phase 3). - GIGA Queen battle theme "Knock You Down!!" seems to be inspired by the final battle theme from the Super NES Mighty Morphin Power Rangers game. - If the Thrash Machine does not get hit during the first two rounds, then in the third round GIGA Queen is further powered up, to the point her movements leave blue trail shadows behind. However in return the Thrash Machine will do a lot more damage to her in return. However, this only can only happen on the first attempt to fight Queen. - In a continuation of the Prophecy, Ralsei tells us about the Roaring, an apocalyptic event that was to occur, seemingly when too many fountains exist at once. Technically this is not the first time we’ve been alluded to that, as Jevil also seems to be aware of the Roaring, remarking after our encounter with him that the Knight’s hand is drifting forward and hell's roar is bubbling from the depths.

Though my crackpot theory is that the _name_ of the track "Knock You Down!!" is a reference to the fighting game battle theme "KNOCK YOU DOWN!" from LIVE-A-LIVE (a Yoko Shimomura special), much like Toby Fox has confirmed Megalovania to be named after and partly inspired by that game's boss theme, Megalomania.

Yep, that's what Noelle's searches were for. There's a theory (not a spoiler; there's nothing left in the game to support it) that Dess fell into a dark world and never came out, and that the Knight is someone in town who got a hunch what happened and has been creating the fountains so the three of you can go find her.

Oh sweet, we're going back next time! I'm happy he remembered the lock in that secret room; shouldn't be too hard to figure out where to go from there, by process of elimination alone, and this chapter's "Jevil" is one that you REALLY don't want to miss. That aside, I've been LOVING this playthrough and all the voices you've given the characters are just PERFECT, right down to how you read all their little stutters and awkward pauses. And yes, this is the first time that "determination", both as a concept and a seemingly real in-world power, makes a comeback! Kinda like some other things, but I'll save my thoughts on that for later. Still hoping that with each new chapter, we get to read more about SOULs in the library...

This playthrough of Deltarune has been my absolute favorite! So much so that it reignited my urge to go down the Deltarune rabbit hole for old time's sake, which has only highlighted how much I prefer Dan's commentary and style of play. Those next three chapters are going to be a delight when they come out in... honestly, like a year. Probably less. The newsletters have been promising.

The likelihood that we may likely get no more (or very little) Queen as antagonist after her Chapter is done makes me so very sad. Spamton is iconic and Noelle’s a great character and S C Cakes memorable, but Queen is inspired in her style.

Now that this dark world is pretty much done aside from the extras I recommend taking a look at the alternative options this chapter gives you once you're done. In chapter one none of your choices mattered and you only get a slightly different scene and the opportunity to explore Lancer's castle between the King fight and sealing the fountain Chapter 2's dark world has some different options that actually change the way you go about things It's not something I'd recommend anyone actually do To start the changes you need to backtrack as soon as you get Noelle in the party. Fight every enemy, have her deal the killing blow with a freeze. Then proceed form there
