The hit sound at 3:37 is really interesting to me - I also recognized that as the hit sound for the Ballet Shoes in UNDERTALE. Between that and the dances from the Sweet Cap'n Cakes fight, it's kind of surprising how many references to Peanuts made it into these games. ooh, the Venus sample at 7:32 too! I recognize that from OMORI, the track "Space Boyfriend's Tape - I Want Nothing More". it's interesting that they both came from the same place. it also reminds me of Shyren... maybe there's a connection there too? speaking of, OMORI does make pretty heavy use of sampling in its soundtrack, too. 7:42 funfact:this is also a reference for ghost fight from undertale!
@villagemarauder2 жыл бұрын
2:29 personally this sounds reminds me of a scene in LoZ Wind Waker when Tetra winks at Link. It's a similar speed and even a similar instrument (presumably), just a different key. Edit: the jingle is from the Bomb Shop scene, and it's 7 notes instead of 4, but still just about the same speed as Jevil's creepy jingle. More likely a reference to earthbound as you noted, but I'd be willing to bet the hint of mischief in Tetra's jingle might not have gone unnoticed by Toby.
@IhazkirbroАй бұрын
I originally thought it was from Kirbys Dream Land 3 (specifically the sound that plays when you find an npc that gives you a Heart Star at the end of the level) but after double checking it doesn't sound similar at all. The Tetra Jingle is more likely imo as it sounds the most similar. Also, theres a difference between the jingle before the forsaken fortress and in the bomb shop?

All the Earthbound references make sense considering it's a game from Toby but one of the most obvious ones from chapter 2 is the "Wow" from a couple of Spamton's songs, which is ripped straight from Earthbound.

@@kirbywithaknifeisawesome6028 There is a mysterious post from toby's screen name long before Undertale's reveal that called it "underbound" and said it was an earthbound hack about a human stuck underground. This is also where he said the protag's love interest was a taco.

3:27 Isn't it in the music at the beginning of the chapter one of Deltarune also ? When you have to make a character I mean It'd make sense because it's the "music" of the fight against Gygas in Earthbound, and the whole fight is a reference to an abortion, so in Deltarune when your creation gets discarded while being made, it would be kind of an abortion too I guess But after all I'm maybe just overthinking

It is possible to use sound effect's labeled for public domain use and it is possible to change a sound effect enough to claim it your own. It is also possible to go into a tracker and re-create the same sound effect's while also not knowing they we're related to another game; which happened to me once, had friends point it out to me on over a dozen times. XD
