I actually quite like Berdly. He doesn’t completely take in the whole “evil creepy nerd” stereotype that most antagonists like him have, and he actually seems like a genuine person, or er, monster. I especially love how he doesn’t actually love Noelle, only pretending to do so because he had genuinely thought she had the hots for him. It’s a great twist that leads to an even funnier moment where he expresses his new crush on Susie.

So are we going to talk about how Berdly is basically _Kris'_ Lancer? Let's make a count for the record: Shows up out of nowhere as the first significant boss. Reluctantly serves the main villain. After fighting him, you change to a new location. Basically ignores Ralsei's existence and shrugs off Susie, focusing on only one member of the party. Has tricky patterns that can be later mastered pretty easily, like Lancer's spades. Trolls and follows you in the next locale. Is shown to be not 100% evil. You have a one-on-one rematch with him later, which is far more heated due to it being over a misunderstanding. In the final locale, which is the bad guy's castle, he turns around and helps you. People point to Spamton, but Berdly really hits home that this is _Kris'_ chapter, opposed to Susie having the focus last one.

I would see this as the "Noelle chapter" since Noelle is also kind of on Berdly's side with her being captured while Susie is on Lancer's, just willingly. King seems to potray Susie's "rudeness", with him too making the "hurr durr i dont like quiet people" line, and Queen seems to represent Noelle's mother. They both have arcs related to the villains, Noelle learns to stand up to Queen, which will probably later lead to her standing up to the Mayor, while Susie learns to not always rely on violence, as she doesnt want to make Lancer sad. Lancer doesnt seem to ignore Ralsei, in fact, he interacts with him too, just like Berdly interacts mostly with Kris and Noelle, so they both focus on TWO team members. Since in the end cutscene Toriel is with Kris and Susie she might be the focus of the next chapter, with the Boss potraying her relationship with Asgore, and how it affects their children.

The lyrics embody Berdly as a character very well. Yes he’s annoying and definitely an idiot at times but he’s far from stupid. He’s starved for attention and praise, to be superior and smart but he still cares for Noelle since she’s his friend and she helped him get to where he is now. He makes a lot of video game references and genuinely wants to help Queen rule Cyberworld to shape it into a new world for him and Noelle. As someone has said before, “He’s not malicious, he just has poor social skills” and as Queen has said, there’s nothing wrong with Berdly he’s just annoying.
