When the dying man goes over his happiest memories, you get the sense Damiel almost envies him because he's experienced life as a human.

why doesn’t anyone talk about the stunning camera movement invented by this scene… the way the camera eases back and forth to symbolize damiel passing the “invocation” to the dying man

i can only think of two scenes that haunt me each year and make me seek out that film to watch again every year since the 80s. roy battys tears in rain speech and angel bruno ganz in this scene, pure poetry that can't be equaled. i miss rutger hauer and bruno ganz but i'm glad they left their calling card RIP.

A coworker put the DVD for this film in my hands last year and told me to watch it. It has a way of staying with you long after you finish watching it; there are few other films that are as beautiful and as heart-felt to me. Now I think of it from time to time and long to watch it again, maybe even find a copy for my own collection..

It is a visit with Eternity for me. This is a timeless message of our inner struggle for lightness or weight. Wim Wenders camera follows amazing dialogs and ancient dream language for me. There is a slowness and a sadness as many of the artists are now gone (2016). Thanks for your comment and visit, Donna Lang.

I saw the movie the first time in 1988 at the age of 17 and it hit me so hard I cannot say. There is a deep knowledge in it, shown in a poetic form, finest art of cinema.

Just discovered Wim Wenders this week, finally with Paris, Texas. It blew me away. Haven't falling in love with a movie or had such emotions brought forward from media in years. I wanted to try more of his work and see if he had any other beautiful scenes like the famous booth scene in P,T. This does it for me. Absolutely incredible scene. Will stay with me.

It's so beautiful, the way the camera tracks, subtle and gracefully from left to right @ 0:25 to 1:37. One of my favorite pieces of film.

@@deafdave6468 There are many shots in Berlin-Kreuzberg, e.g. at Oranienstraße, or right next to where the Wall stood. Also some at Yorckstraße, in Schöneberg (e.g. when Ganz trades his armor for some clothes (?)). The Building with the Mercedes sign is the Europa Center, in Charlottenburg.
