I watched this little gem of a film a couple weeks ago and immediately was touched by it's simple portrayal of life as a young college student late for her class and in the end is gifted by a visit from her grandfather, who she never knew. Her regret is expressed by his broken wristwatch which she proudly wears years later. The mystical appearance of her grandfather is one of reassurance, but also of love and regret that he "had to leave" before meeting her. I now have returned to watch it several times. It has such a comforting effect on me. Sweet and creative film.

What a wonderful note. What a wonderful message; "Sometimes the most distant memories can be the closest." Beautiful. It is amazing that these short movies have the most meaning. "Timepiece," I'll have to watch it again. Her grandfather said that he ran out of time. Yet, he was there to give her more time at a trying time in her young life. I am sure that through the passage of time, she will not forget the time she met her grandfather. Or, when the watch he gave her started ticking again. Thank you, Breathing Films. Well done.

I lost my daughter when she was just 26 years old , she had an undiagnosable neurological illness , she went from vibrant , smiling outgoing to almost paralysed . I always wonder if there is a porthole of time in her room where can meet and talk , I always look for some sign of anything , a letter , a note that she left behind for me . I haven’t found it yet , everyday I grow more and more distant in my own mind and wonder if I am in a bad dream and that any minute now I’ll wake up from my nightmare. My husband wants to sell up this house , it’s too big for us now , but I feel like I will be leaving her behind , my little bee balm I miss her so.

There's something special about this little film. Thank you. I am reminded of "The shepherd ", a short story by Alistair McLean (I think). A lone RAF pilot, 1950, lost over the North Sea at night with total electrical failure and no compass or radio, on Christmas eve, fuel running out, his landing ground fog-bound, he prays. Out of the murk, a Mosquito aircraft appears alongside. By hand signals, the other plane "shepherd" him in, to land at a remote and almost disused airfield, just as his fuel runs out. I won't tell you the end, but it's a great Christmas ghost story.

In this mad, hectic world, sometimes the simplest things are the most valuable. Yesterday, I gave an old children's book to my son, William. "Still William", by Richmal Crompton, was a favourite of mine when I was a boy. Despite being a first edition, its dog-eared, tatty condition makes the book virtually worthless. Inside the front cover is a dedication to my eleven year old father. It was originally given to him by his great aunt as a Christmas present in 1925. Ninety nine years ago.
