It's an intergalactic hip hop opera set in the distant future. It's one of most insanely ambitious ideas that I can think of and they stuck the landing. Artistic gold.
@whyjnot420

As much as I love this, I would argue that his work as Deltron for those albums is pretty good for concept work. Concept albums as a whole are very much becoming a lost art and I love a good concept album. So this is no faint praise from me. Yet when it comes to being an opera even stuff like Avantasia cannot claim to truly be one and that project is a hundred times more ambitious than the Deltron 3030 albums (and even presents itself as a heavy metal opera, at least originally in the first 2 albums). Note than in an opera there is a complete story within the music. The Deltron stuff feels more like two anthologies from the same setting. btw Avantasia's failing is that you need to read the liner notes to get the whole story. Thus not a complete story contained within the music. addendum: Don't get me wrong, Avantasia is utterly amazing. ffs they had more singers on one song than most ska bands have members.

This album will forever be in my music rotation. Especially showing it to people who’ve never heard it. They don’t believe me when I tell them it’s over 20 years old now. Timeless. My older brother showed me this album in the early 2000’s when I was just a young teenager and it spread like a VIRUS through all my friends. We still jam it all the time. My brother passed away tragically a few years ago and it’s been tough man. But I’ve kept living and jamming to this makes me feel his presence. Forever grateful!

How awesome is it to see Kid Koala do this shit live by hand and memory....his hands are mixing and blending and actually scratching the entire show...something you don't see anymore.. this was nuts.. just wish that either a recorded Joseph Gordon Levitt or somebody did the preamble to The Return. Is it recorded though? Some of the intro obviously is, and there are other elements too, but most o it seems to be live. Nothing wrong with having prerecorded elements either, it increases versatility and creativity in composition (there are some things that just can't be played live).
@SongBillong
@SongBillong Жыл бұрын
@@awesomeferret I don't think Lowercase G was implying that any of this wasn't performed live; he was simply saying that this (a live performance recorded to be put onto KZbin) is the closest thing he can get to physically witnessing a live performance of Deltron 3030. 🙂

Trombone girl got the rhythm and feel yo! Anyone else notice how at 38:15 she does that female voice part? She starts out of sync but gets in sync quickly. Notice how she's the only one doing it? Heinrich Evers - I didn't think that sounded anything like the studio version. The orchestra was fantastic, maybe better than what was originally recorded, however Del seemed out of it and like +andgalactus1 said above, he had very little passion and was most likely inebriated.

The first time i heard this album my mind was overflowing and i felt like going into coma it was such a "Oh my fucking god" moment. These artists that keep inovating and doing original content like this and of other kinds, to a special meaning to me in music as an art form, are truly something else, regardless of money or fame or power, just for the sake of creating something unique and beautiful.

This is awesome. One of the best concerts I've ever seen was Deltron3030 in Brooklyn in 2014. I'm more of a hardcore and metal fan, but there is something about Del, Dan and Kid Koala together that just make art. I also love Kid Koala's stuff with Dynomite D where they sampled Bollywood songs.

I feel fairly confident when I say that this album is fairly close to what is hip hop's version of Dark Side of the Moon. This album particularly was way beyond its time and if/when humanity gets to the year 3030...this album will absolutely be listened to if we still have ears. Otherwise perhaps the music will be experienced in an n-dimesional space designed for the human race to experience art and history.

I had mad appreciation for this album beforehand, but.... in 2004 a group of friends and myself got wrecked on tabs. End of night my roomie and I popped this album and watched Batman the Animated Series on mute. I will never forget the most epic of rap battles that took place between Joker and Bats that night. Still spend about a month out of the year with this on repeat. Fantastic.

Deltron 3030 is by far one of my favorite trios in hip hop. To watch them live was to watch the genre at it's greatest. You get to see each artist blend the 3 parts together at it's highest grade. I get transported to a different world every time I listen to them. They need to get back to it pronto.

Listening to what he spits is like reading snippets of various interesting dystopian sci-fi novels. I'd like to read the whole story. I think he is unique in this style. I'd pay to see Deltron performing with an orchestra and chorus. The mix of electronic and live instrumentation is done very well. I have to favorite this video. The conductor is just too cool on "Nobody Can."
