Deluge Drumming is Incredible!
Today I decided to hook up my Alesis Trigger IO to the Deluge! The Trigger IO is a drum trigger to MIDI converter, allowing me to use my drum pads to trigger whatever I want. Since the Deluge allows for complete removal of quantization, live playing some drum parts into the sequencer goes over great. When you include the additions to the sequencer that the 4.0 firmware update brought, it becomes a truly incredible experience! Enjoy the video :)

My jaw dropped when you fixed the clipping by changing the polyphony. I never would have thought of that! Raised my Deluge game! I use the Rytm to finger drum into the Deluge sequencer just like this, and yeah, sometimes I have that problem. Thanks FB! I still haven't looked at the 4.0 changes, gotta get on that

Yeah haha, it's just something I've picked up from my experience with electronic drums and drum pads. It's not actually clipping, just cutting itself off :) Thanks for watching!

Your channel is literally great! I was in the drumline myself in highschool and have wanted to incorporate me drumming rhythms into midi and then changing it from a drum to a bassline or something. I have even thought about mini drum sticks for my MPC. This is such a great idea. also wow looked into these deluge a little and these are quite impressive

I love love love this video!!!! Excellent demonstration FB!! So, as a drummer, would you have to say that this Deluge is capable of creating rhythms so complex they are not possible for a human alone to play live? I just can't believe any human could listen to the Deluge play what we just heard and then sit at a kit and physically repeat it. You're right when you say this capability opens up a whole new world of inspiration! Really coo stuff! Can't wait for you to upload a video applying this to one of you original songs!!! Thanks for sharing this!!!

Oh yeah absolutely haha. It's a bit of a two way street though, because the Deluge would also have a hard time perfectly emulating someone actually playing (even with it's 64th note zoom) Thanks for watching!

KAT, TrapKat, DITI, Yamaha Multi 12 or Alesis Strike Pad have an Alternate Mode. Cycle or Random LFO on the MPC also works well. 1010 Music Black Box also allows triggering rows. Been doing melodic arpeggieos with this gear for years.

I actually think it might be possible to get pretty close to this by sequencing! It would take a while, and a lot of trial and error, but the zoom view on the Deluge makes it seem possible. Thanks for watching!

Awesome. I've been looking for this exact feature for years. I wonder if I can get something similar happening with my Maschine? I can borrow a drum pad and maybe a trigger io from a friend, so I'll see if I can get it happening and let you know if it works out. If you hear nothing, I didn't get to borrow the stuff (yet)
@FreeBeat
@FreeBeat 2 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah you should be able to at least trigger drum samples with the pads! I'm not familiar with the workflow outside of that so I'm not sure what else you could do with the setup, but I'd imagine it's worth checking out :)

@@FreeBeat Seems like setting the resolution on the Deluge up to the max instead of the default did the trick. For future me: Press Shift + Press Main Menu knob in, scroll to defaults, and select resolution. Thanks for the super cool video! It got me inspired to incorporate the deluge into my live drumming.

Might be a weird idea: have you ever used your drum kit with a midi device like the Deluge to play something melodic (maybe there's a better term for it)? For instance: xylophone samples, steel drums, hammered dulcimer, or any other sample/synth really.
@FreeBeat
@FreeBeat 2 жыл бұрын
I did it once when I was playing with a band about 10 years ago, but all I did was use the stock melodic kit on the Roland TD-8 haha. I'll have to give that a shot!
