Bi, Pansexual, Demisexual, and Omnisexual people don't have to show any indication of whom they are attracted to. Regardless of how the outside world sees them, most people would see them as "gay" regardless. People lose sight of WHY superheroes were created in the first place and by whom. Young Jewish survivors of WW2 wanted to imagine a world with beings of extraordinary power who used it for the benefit of mankind. They didn’t conjure it out of some sense of naïveté, but its opposite. They knew how messed up the world could be. Seen it firsthand. They aspired to a world where heroes would suffer themselves before harming innocents. Now, I detested The Boys comic. It’s clear the author doesn’t understand what motivated those early creators to imagine that universe rather than one fully of shitty people. When you’ve been to the edge for real, edge lord nonsense feels pretty juvenile. But the show is brilliant. Because it’s more about athletes and celebrity culture than superheroes. And Homelander doesn’t represent an evil Superman. He’s Donald Trump with powers.

I felt the first three seasons were mainly about corporate greed and how power corrupts. Also what superhuman power might be like if given to an average human. Brightburn was the same idea. Didn’t really strike me as left or right since plenty of the biggest corporate business owners are left wing. Same with the offshoot story of the deep and of secsual assault with Starlight. Was reference to the Me too movement and Harvey Weinstien. Again that doesn’t really have a political side. Weinstein was very Democrat. If presidents getting caught doing naughty secsual things seems particularly right wing then I don’t know what to say. If meglomaniacs, corruption and secsual assault have a political side in someone’s head then they aren’t paying attention and might need to check their own biases. For every Trump there is a Clinton and every Walton there is a Soros. Terrible humans don’t have a political side.
