He said I'm more likely to get hired in any fire department or PD without the experience than he is, simply because I am a woman and a "minority". My nephew needed to go to the hospital, big guy that body builds with his dad. he was in so much pain and did not look good. The ambulance finally shows up, two little old ladies came out and couldn't even lift him in. Took forever to strap him down and haul him out. Fumbled a lot. They dopped him once. I felt like I was watching Benny Hill or something silly. Seeing them in action vs seeing my husband and his buddies in action was like night and day. I truly hope anyone who is in dire need of help will never end up in a situation where their paramedics do a sloppy job and can hardly perform their duties.

In New Zealand there is a nurse strike brewing and I wholeheartedly agree they need a big pay rise. NZ nurses earn significantly less than they do in Australia, Canada, US etc. Last night a female reporter on the news started off about that - agree... then swung off to how the nurses are going to strike to help close the pay gap in New Zealand. The pay gap here is 9% - easily explained (as we all know) by the choice women make, to go into teaching, child care, nursing etc which pay significantly lower than other jobs. I mean really, who goes and gets a Bachelors degree or Masters and choose nursing? and then complain about pay gap. But aside from that. I challenge any feminist here to find a single male nurse that gets paid more than a female nurse, not just anywhere in New Zealand, but anywhere in this country in history, where a male nurse with the same qualifications, same experience and of course they can't, just as they can't in any field I can think of. A long time ago, I worked in a big multinational company, and I was a brand manager, and there was myself and a female brand manager and we compared, we got paid the same when we got hired in the same year. She took 5 years off work to have some kids, came back into the same position and was angry that I was earning 18% more than her now. She went on about male privilage and pay gap rant, and I pointed out, that she missed out on 5 x annual pay rises of 2% and some bonus pay rises for good work that she no doubt would have achieved as well. There is NO pay gap, other than by the choices women make themselves.

Benefits of the patriarchy??? She's delusional. I have been married for more years than her age and the first "date" with my now lovely husband was a cup of coffee and small talk. Second date he invited me to a simple dinner date and got to know each other more. On the third date, I cooked and prepared (with my own resources) a lovely picnic to show my appreciation for his attentions and from then and up to now it has always been about sharing with each other and appreciating everything we do for each other without keeping count. Relationships aren't about money and superficial materialistic things, it is about mental and emotional connection.
