Delving Swiss Davoine Almanacs: Genealogy as a Tool in Historical Watchmaking Research (A Case)

In my video I analyze data from Swiss Davoine almanacs, genealogical data and period press articles to render the identity of a particular worker in watch case making during the 1850s as found in Davoine. I discuss the importance of applying genealogical data in liaison with historical sources. This is a single facet in the study of an entrire family lineage involved in watchmaking. It is hoped that others will employ the science I have dubbed “Geneahorology” in the pursuit of watchmaking historical research as a tool to discover these fascinating liaisons in this curious discipline.
