How she talked about using her hair as a safety signal to cover up her body is so true for people with eating disorders. In ED recovery we talk about the ways we subconsciously are trying to hide our bodies and use safety signals/avoidances (safety signal could be anything you use to decrease your anxiety like using your phone to avoid a conversation, twisting hair, tying a jacket around your tourso to cover your stomach, ect) since she used her long hair to hide her body for so long I'm sure it was difficult and definitely a form of exposure therapy for her cut her hair so she can't use it to hide anymore.
