I hope you’re not insinuating that someone who is mentally ill or unwell can simply help themselves. That’s not how it works all of the time. Some people have much severe cases to where they do actually NEED outside help. That’s what she pays a lot of these people for, her team. To help. They want her to be sober so they can keep making money but don’t want to give her proper support.

What I love about Demi is that she never pretended to be someone else. She always openeded up about her emotional problems and addictions. She knows that being so transparent about these problems takes away a lot of people, the judges of good morals, for example. The addict is the guy who rang you up at the convenient store today, the girl who was your waitress at the restaurant you had lunch at, her boyfriend who cooked your great food, that cool salesman who sold you your car, your family doctor, your polite and quiet roommate, and your brother who leaves early for work to score so he doesn't get dopesick today at work. I really love how Demi is so relatable even as a person who’s constantly in the spotlight. She emphasizes the importance of self love and self care in maintaining your mental health! When she was talking about her relapse, she didn’t sugarcoat it or give some scripted response. Talking about addiction, especially the feelings involved with it, is still considered a bit of a taboo subject, and I think the way she addressed this issue took a LOT of courage.

I respect her journey & the message - but it’s easier to say “you can get through this and love yourself” when you’re a rich and famous celebrity with a huge position of privilege. We have a huge problem with addicts in the UK, and they don’t have half as much help or privilege as these celebrities do. And I do think that the different financial positions play a part in the quality of help & resources open to people.

They were checking her receipts and bank account to see how she was spending money on food ? And they call themselves a team ?! There is literally no help or support coming from those people, actually the opposite. I hope she surrounded herself with a new team made of real human beings, unlike those prior selfish greedy miserables who only thought of their job and carrier, who only saw Demi’s message, behaviour and relapse as a liability instead of a cry for help.

She is such an inspiration honestly. She takes full responsibility to what she did to herself. That takes so much and i believe only a handful of people are strong enough to do that. Sure other factors played part in it, but taking the full responsibility also means that she can now hopefully have peace with herself. And she is so so soo strong for talking about this on a big platform because im sure its super hard to talk about this (and while staying strong). A lot of people dont understand how hard it is to rehabilitate. People dont look at what plays behind the decisions that others make. How she worded it was so well thought out and im happy for her for inspiring people who are going through the same

its hard to rehabilitate but its harder not to. cause the pain is there and if you dont deal with it you have to keep fighting it. you may as well face it and deal with it. and have a happier life. its liberating to deal with our demons its alot worse not to. though it takes a lot of courage, it ultimately pays off cuz all of us have demons we need to confront with or it swallow us up. so swim or sink. you choose.
