Here's a harsh truth from someone with similar issues to Demi. No one is obligated to stay with you, as friends or more. No one is obligated to help you deal with your issues and if your issues are affecting them on a mental health level themselves, they have every right to take a step back if necessary. The only stronghold you need in life, is yourself.

I agree. I've been on both ends. The whole "true friends stay with you no matter what" is really problematic. I've had to cut off a best friend of 6 years because I just couldn't take on her issues while dealing with my own. I tried for a year but she kept shutting me out and pushing me away. That affected me a lot. I couldn't keep the both of us going. I felt so guilty after ending our friendship though, thought I was a really bad person for "abandoning" her but really, she abandoned me too while pretending she was there.

Yes! I was about to say this. My kids dad is an addict and we’ve split up recently because of it. To him I’m being “unsupportive” I told him, “ go to rehab, I support you through that” Addiction makes you selfish. That being said, her feeling are valid. But addicts put there loved ones through hell. Not everyone can deal with that.

Sometimes there’s a limit and you have to be selfish. I used to have a depressive friend who I tried to help as much as I could but it got to a point where she wasn’t even trying and just downloaded her shit on me. Not to mention the lack of self awareness and willingness to work on herself and all the toxic situations and mind games she got me involved in. I had to think of myself and what was best for me. Tbh it’s difficult to be and stay friends with addicts. It’s not even just the lifestyle it’s the perpetual lying that’s so exhausting. Right? It’s just I think sometimes she keeps victimizing herself when it comes to all her relationships that went wrong. “All these people fucked me over, I had to remove them from my life because they’re toxic” sort of mentality. Which can happen. But relationships go both ways. I had this sort of mentality back in the day and with a lot of therapy I realized it’s not always like that. People in my life have their own agency and life and feelings just as I do. And I sometimes decide to remove myself from situations I feel are very bad for me. That can be painful to the other person and they can see it as me failing them... but I love me more honestly. It took a lot in me to stop pleasing people and staying around people who did more harm than good. A lot of people left my side when I was dealing with severe depression. And honestly? I don’t blame them. I was on such an emotionally draining state. And I think that ended up affecting other people around me. I stepped out from relationships where the other person was in my position because I couldn’t fully deal with it. So I can’t judge people doing the same with me. We don’t really know what happened, and even when I’m a very impartial person when it comes to these things, lately I’ve found myself not trusting her narrative. So if this was the case, I wouldn’t blame Nick at all. Or Selena (if that was what happened). Who knows. She’s very “transparent”, but at the end of the day everyone has their narrative. Everyone has a villain in a story, and that villain can perceive him/herself as a hero in their own story. So we’ll never really know. All this is pure speculation.

Finally, some mature individuals on here. People go on about how honest Demi is, yet all of her documentaries are the same. She and family & friends all admit how good of a liar Demi is & she hides her drug use & other destructive behavior. Demi wasn’t even allowed to see her younger sister until she got help so why would anyone think it’s bad for friends to get fed up and walk away from her constant lies & toxicity. Nick has type 1 diabetes. Maintaining a healthy physical & mental lifestyle is crucial. He was right to choose health & cut her off. At the end of the day, I sincerely hope Demi can turn her life around. But based on the Dancing with the Devil doc, it doesn’t look good for her. She’s still flip-flopping between blaming others then saying she has nobody to blame but herself. Same words, same behavior as her older docs. All anyone can do is pray for her & wish her the best of luck.

About Demi and Nick, I have to say two things. 1. The Futre Now tour: Demi was returning the favor. Once, the Jonas Brothers helped her to get a spot/name in the industry, she benefited from the household name that the 3 brothers represented. Later on, Demi was the big name and Nick benefited from her fame to kick start his career again. They both benefited form each other, case closed, everybody move on. 2. Demi has had a few relapses/low points do to her addiction and other issues she deals with (btw massive respect to her for being a fighter). The Jonas Brothers, specifically Nick, have been there for her in the past many times, as friends, to support her and give her love, the friendship she needs. That being said, when she relapsed the last time and OD'ed, Nick wasn't there anymore to help or visit her. Can we blame him? I think the answer is NO. He is a human being, and as such, you have to take care of yourself first. He probably didn't want to be stuck in Demis drama again because honestly, its depressing, and we can't blame him if he needed his distance just to keep himself safe and happy. Basically, its that typical situation where parents tell their kids "that friend of yours is not good for you" or "choose your company well". Nick probably needed his safe distance, specially because he could have been dragged down emotionally with Demi, specially because now we know he was constructing his relationship with his wife. What I mean, and people who've had experience with being the support of someone who deals with addiction or depression will understand, sometimes, that person you love is in so much pain, you start feeling really sad and depressed as well because it is dark shit. They indeed start dragging you down the same darkness, at least for a while, until they get better. So honestly, a rocky and messy relationship with Demi wouldn't have been a good thing to bring to the table, when your sole focus should be on your own health and the woman you love. She comes first. In conclusion, I think Nick was not around to help Demi out during her latest relapse, because he didn't want to be affected emotionally by it. And he really can't be blamed for taking care of his health first. This is my opinion, if you don't agree, I respect your opinion, but it is not necessary to respond to me, never the less insult me or anything of the sort; just a reminder to those who might want to "clap back" just because they don't like what I wrote.

I know that, it is just sad that after all those years, they weren't there for her when she needed them the most. I mean if I ever fight with my bff and never talk to her again but later I found out she was about to die, I would put my pride aside and be there for her, unless she did something unforgivable, which I doubt, but still, they were so good friends and it sucks not to see them together like old times.
@curiousmisfitexplorer9933
@curiousmisfitexplorer9933 3 жыл бұрын
@@olenkagamboa1djb But I think they didn't fight before she relapsed. I think they distanced themselves, BECAUSE she relapsed. Meaning, I don't think it was a matter of putting aside their pride to be there for her; I think it was a matter, of them not wanting to go down the same road. I had a conversation about this with an acquaintance of mine once. He was saying that he expected his childhood friend Max to be there when he relapsed (he is an alcoholic). He was obviously pissed because he really felt like Max hadn't been a real friend, he had been there for him in the past, but not this time around. I remember telling him (and if I could I would say this to Demi as well): Don't you think it is blatant of you to take him for granted and expect him to be there every time you fuck up, instead of understanding that it is not his obligation to take the shit you and your addiction put him through, but instead it is YOUR obligation to keep your shit together? I followed the question with: Don't you think that being around an addict is depressing and you and your episodes are making him feel depressed? And that maybe he was just not in an emotional state where he could deal with YOUR crap? Do you think it truly is fair to expect him to be there every time, putting you first instead of himself and his happiness or emotional state? To be honest he didn't respond, but I could see his gears turning in his head, contemplating the possibility that his opinion was completely biased (one sided) and that he hadn't stoped for one second and tried to understand or see things through Max's eyes. I think this is the situation with Demi and Nick (the Jonas brothers). I think she doesn't realize that despite the fact that they probably wanted to be there for her, they simply couldn't because they had to put themselves first (their health, their emotions, their wellbeing, their family. Specially Kevin, I wouldn't want my kids to witness any of her addiction and all the shit-storm that comes with it; that is a terrible influence for a kid). And I think she doesn't realize that she probably shouldn't have expected them to be there, but instead she should just keep her shit together; specially thinking of her younger sister. Imagine what a toll it must be for Maddie to be put through this situation over and over again. I know Demi has issues outside of her control (to a certain extent) but that doesn't excuse her to keep ficking up and putting her family through so much pain, every other month/day/year. Imagine if she had kids. Should they stand by her, be around her, every time she relapses? I honestly don't think it's fair to expect people to stay besides addicts and be there for them endlessly and unconditionally. It's toxic, and nobody deserves to be put through that much suffering. Thats my opinion though. But I do appreciate yours, and I do understand it and see where you're coming from. Thank you for your comment :)

1. Tbf as far as returning the favor part goes I feel it's not a similar situation. Demi might at the time have been a smaller name but she was signed with Disney and it was a Disney tactic not something the Jonas Brothers gave her...On the other hand when Demi toured with Nick they were both solo artist not under any obligation to tour together for any promo. I guess she might have felt like as a friend she should give back to him but the situation was very different. And if I am honest I feel that the video narrator definitely makes it a bit more dramatic is not like Demi didn't understand she was helping him out or she got tricked

How can people say that the Jonas brothers walked away from her? She was in a very bad place, manipulating the shit out of everyone, completely out of control. She wouldn't accept help. Who said she wasnt the one who pushed them away??? I dont think we can say that. But i do believe that it must have been hard for them emotionally to stick around, cause demi's issues are heavy and it can be hard to relate/understand someone going through that much suffering when you're not feeling the same thing. I think it's a very complicated and delicate situation. Demi has some serious illness, stuff that are out of her control, it's hard to deal with. I think she's doing the best that she can, but sometimes our minds just like to sabotage us. I feel like she's constantly on a war with herself, and that must be so hard and painful for her.

Addictions are like a disease I find it totally toxic to tell someone that if they relapse everything they done so far means nothing. Actually most addiction specialists will tell you that a relapse is part of the process and they try to explain that to the addict as well, that although they will try to prevent it , it will most likely happen and it doesn't mean they gotta give up. Supporting a person who is suffering from anything means you gotta be ready to take things with their pace and not how you want them to be.

She had said in her video she was clean for 5 yrs or 8yrs because she was with Wilmer. That he was her rock. That doesn’t match with what you say your unnamed source said. No way she’d stay clean if he was using. She also said she wanted to learn how to be strong on her own without him. I did understand but found that not a necessity for her to break up with him. She admitted she still loved him. I don’t believe she would give him such a compliment if he treated her so poorly or lie about him being her rock. No he didn’t put a ring on her finger and did quickly with his fiancé. That doesn’t mean he treated her bad. I think the song “Tell Me You Love Me” has some correlation with their relationship. She is talented. I hope she stays well without anymore life threatening experiences.

To the people who keep saying its hard to be friends with an addict. Well yes it is and sometimes it is best to walk away. But with Demi it wasn't the case. Demi was sober for 6 years and she was surrounded by toxic people. Including the jonas brothers, her management, phil and wilmer. She is real strong to stay true to herself and sober around users. But when this strong person starts to take a stand and make changes. The toxic people don't like that. This causes heart break and disappointment then relapses happen. The important part of all of this is her will to stay sober and get better. The jonas brothers used her. And this video and the other one proved that. Don't dismiss demi because she is an addict. She is an addict that wants to be sober and get better. If you guys want to dismiss someone then dismiss Phil, the jonas brothers and wilmer who used her and walked away. They are the fake friends that should be dismissed. Not Demi. She is a giver and was not at fault. She was in a toxic environment. She trusted the wrong people. People who hated her. Aka Phil. Phil used and manipulated demi and the jonas brothers. the difference between demi and the jonas brothers is that one was favored above the other. Phil favored the jonas brothers. And manipulated them. But they are NOT children to know right from wrong. They should have chosen friendship over toxicity. it just makes them toxic too.

Addicts. Yes. People have no obligation to stay with you, bla bla bla. But you know, there's something that been said by my family through generations: "You will find your real friends and people who truly love you, when you're on the bottom of pedestal. Not when you're on top, but right on the bottom." It's not limited for addicts, being a jobless, homeless, orphan made me face those people. Friends. Lovers. When they learned I'm homeless, they gone. I got back to my feet, but losing a job, they gone again. So I personally say, "go girl, find back yourself, move on and be happy. Also, don't let those people or anyone like them, come to you again." God bless us 👍🙏

This is what an addict does. This is emotional manipulation. Whose to say he wasn't there and then tried the tough love route? Sometimes you can be there all you want and they'll still self destruct. She's still self destructing now. She needs major help and if she doesn't get it she's going to die!! Its that simple! Addicts are selfish and thinks the whole world owes them something. You’re not taking into account the fact that Wilmer literally dates teenagers habitually. He started dating Lindsay when she was 17 and told her that keeping their relationship a secret made it more special. Mandy when she was 16 and started dating Demi when she was 17. He purposefully went for young, vulnerable not even of age women. He’s got a track record of it and it’s not something healthy that normal people do. He chooses an age range that is easy to manipulate so it’s not as if there’s no truth to him being manipulative and twisting her thoughts. Yes addiction makes people do and think horrible things but he’s literally not innocent. Just because she is an addict doesn’t mean she is invalid.

The thing is , especially with the jonas’ , they’ve been with her when she had her first overdose at 19 , they have been very supportive throughout everything, so when she relapsed with even harder drugs it became harder to be her friend, not that Demi is a bad person because she isn’t , but from a friends point of view , it probably got too much to handle and too heavy , yes you have to be there for your friends when they’re having a hard time and they were with her , but after a while you also have to think of yourself as the friend in the situation, you can’t always be there you have to think of yourself too , and her overdose in 2018 was probably the last drop of “ok , I need to remove myself from this , it got too tiring and I need to think of myself too” I don’t think it came from a bad place , it’s just a situation where you put yourself first , it also doesn’t mean you remove them completely from your life , you just decide to distance yourself from them so they’re life and decisions won’t effect your life , cuz when you’re friend with an addict or a previous-addict who’s relapsing , it can be very emotionally draining and tiring

With the Jonas brothers, she was struggling, growing up and suffering with addiction. Many in those situations lash out at friends and fsamily. Sometimes they don't like how they support them (not enabling), sometimes the people have to step back for their own mental health, and sometimes the addict's perception is just off with all around them. That ia more the expected than 'big drama'. I wouldn't be trying to read more into it, though the kids who don't have the life experience to understand more will buy any created drama for your payday.

I have seen people who were heavy drinkers or drug users that when they had a reason to want to quit, they put them down and were done. That is not how addiction works. An addict can have 100 good reasons to quit and cannot find the clarity and determination to stop.

What got me thinking is that he seems to go after ex addicts as well, if you look up his past which is a really specific thing and usually addicts have attachment issues to begin with. But in order to be clear Demi has said herself that she was the one that made moves on him at first and actually attended a show just to meet him in person. This is all some serious speculation. If you want to get technical Demi and Nick were both doing pretty damn well during this time. Nick’s song Jealous was at the top of the charts around this time. In my personal opinion, they were both doing pretty well. He had no reason to really use her. I do believe he back off when she needed him during this difficult time, but some people don’t know how to handle the hard parts of life. Demi was going through the ringer and he couldn’t give her the support she needed. That would be upsetting to anyone. I also have had friends who only stuck around for the good and never the hard stuff. I understand how upsetting it is and how disappointing it can be. I think it’s absolute BS though to just assume that he/JB were using her. The whole reason why Camp Rock was such a big deal in the first place was because the Jonas Brothers were becoming huge.
@ScandalousMediaTea

I think you’re missing the main point here - Demi took Nick on tour when SHE was the bigger act and Nick wasn’t selling. Camp Rock was in 2008. The Future Now Tour was in 2016. You really can’t compare JB’s stats from a decade ago. It was merely a business tactic that happens all the time with stars. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing bc it was beneficial for Demi as well. It’s just that... the aftermath of everything Demi did for them only for them to drop her during their comeback. Obviously also basing this on her songs

Never date someone who you love more than they love you. No doubt in my mind that Wilmer most likely verbally abused her. But she and Wilmer revealed she was the one that asked him out and he said no 3 times because she was too young when she asked him out. She needs to be wise of the friends and lovers she chooses. It must be hard to date someone with a drug addiction as well.

Ok you're making serious and wrong accusations here, and here's why it's false: The jonas walked away from her because she went back to using again. Nick Jonas has been in a relationship everytime he's been close friends with Demi lovato. FLASHNEWS: Demi lovato is on good terms with Wilmer. They told her it was the last time they'd be in their life if she ever used again and the jonas did.

You just watched a documentary (which I liked a lot btw that doesn’t mean I can’t see through the dangerous message they’re trying to give) in which they say it as such and you believed it (easy to see) which was actually orchestrated by scooter braun. A man who does disgusting things behind the scenes and then saves careers of questionable people by doing PR through using filmmakers for it. it was whitewashed and they went as far as trying to normalize a former alcoholic drinking amongst other stuff and people like you literally swallowed it. I did like it, I like her voice, that doesn’t mean I don’t see what they’re trying to do.

I like her as a musician (tho I don’t listen to much of her music, her voice from my professional stand point is just too good) and I enjoyed the docu, but its means are questionable to say the least and it seems to me she just signed with scooter cuz she needs cash and a good damage control team (He did the same when it was revealed that justin bieber did awful things as: Defending chris brown, defending braun for what he did to swift, mistreating and spiting on his fans and so on, while he also saved Grande when her diva ways and the doughnut incident happened) It seems honest and at the same time a huge dishonest PR move

The thing is is that this sounds a lot like the blame game. Nick Jonas, I’m not actually a fan of his music but I really don’t think he NEEDED Demi to promote his music, and it does seem like the two toured because it was fun for them, I mean yeah it was obvi business as well but it was clearly because that wanted to as well and they both wanted to please the fans. Their friendship: people forget one friend can’t revolve around the other, and ALWAYS be there, sometimes you have to think about yourself and honestly I think it sounds draining being Demi’s friend. Maybe Nick just needed a break. Demi has lots of people in her life, if one person can’t be there for her she has plenty others. And it’s good that Wilmer didn’t propose, there was obviously a reason and it wouldn’t of worked anyway, he clearly saw that.

First off, I love Demi Lovato. I'm on her side. I've been a fan since her Sunny With A Chance show on Disney. Demi is a self proclaimed addict. She is going through the passage in her life where she needs to call out everyone who ever did her wrong. My prayer is that she gets through it and comes to the place where she stops blaming anyone else. Her father. Selena. Jonas. Wilmer. Her coping mechanism is broken due to substance addiction or whatever. Everyone goes through these break ups. But the rest of us are not celebrities. We may or may not have mental issues including substance addiction. But we quietly either crash, or rise from the ashes. All of these kids grew up in an impossible situation in front of cameras, fame, money, etc. It's amazing any one of them will find a way to leave it all behind, and be grateful for all the lessons and leave it all behind. This moment is all any of us have. Make the most of it.

Does anyone remember the moment they were introduced to Demi Lovato? I do- and it was my first concert seeing the Jonas Brothers and she was the opening act- after watching Camp Rock. Funny enough, she was the 'supporting' act for this boyband with lots of screaming girl fans (including myself) but when she hit that stage we all realized who the true star was. Demi has always carried the most talent, but has had to be the back up or support for the Jonas Brothers. And in her lowest moments, Nick wasn't there to support her. This is how they decide to pay her back- even after she went on tour with Nick to promote his new solo album after she became a huge star on her own. It's a shame but I understand why there was a fallout.

I lost any respect I had for Nick after seeing him on Kevin and Danielle’s Reality show they had a while back. He was so arrogant and selfish. Kevin and Dani were talking about wanting to start a family and Nick was getting mad and only worried about what it might do to their band. This was not long before the break up up and I’ve always wondered if that’s not part of why he wanted them to break up.
