Kevin. You are so honest. The best part of this entire painting adventure is your comments at the end. I so appreciate your approach, I can't thank you enough for breaking me out of my perfectionistic painting box! So much freedom to make marks and shapes and have FUN! Thank you.

Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful work and lively interesting tutorials! I've recently rediscovered my love of art by playing around with watercolors and other carefully, long- stored-away art supplies... if not at 69 in the midst of a pandemic, then when? From studying art, long ago, I'm remembering all sorts of useful things... and some not so useful, too. The "art police", whoever "they" might be (the internal art critic, maybe), are often the biggest challenge and probably always were. So my rules for myself have been to paint or draw what I love, like nature or my dog knowing that the results will improve eventually, AND only do it if it's fun, which it is. So I particularly liked your emphatic suggestions to play, have fun, try new things, and be persistent in the face of, sometimes, disappointing results. I really enjoyed your video of the acrylic seascape with the colors, life, and energy of the waves crashing onto the rocks, including sound effects! What a demonstration of joyful fun with all the momentary choices/decisions you were making. Thanks again!

G'day Susan Good on you and thanks for comment. Practise, fail somewhat, practise again and again, we all know this, and enjoy most of it. It is the joy and challenge. I am ever glad to be an artist. My Mum, bless her, used to, in New Zealand, where I hail from, love painting watercolours of English thatched cottages with the odd Robin perched somewhere. Lovely lovely. Do what pleases you,,,, not the art police and please go with the flow. Cheers. My " oldest " ( student ) is 96 and happy, so wonderful

Your painting is free and wonderful and that’s how enjoyable art should be , using your own voice from within. Thanks so much for the drmo❤

Your techniques are a joy to watch but it was the PURE TEACHING at the end that have made me a new subscriber. “Fail better next time” is the best advice as a new watercolorist. PS- We Texans don’t count that word as cussing. Carry on! 😘🙃

What type of paper do you use? I have some watercolor cotton paper, but yours looks different.
