Wow Ray I never knew you were a TV repair man!! I just barley remember bringing ours to the last shop in the county when I was a little kid but unfortunately that didn't last. Shame that's there's pretty much none left along with the HiFi and Vacuum repair shops. I'm glad I at least got to see what was left as a kid.

GREATest review so far!! It's been 2 years what do you think now? Have they made the app better so on? The only reason I like this better than Wyze is the wide-angle and night color!!
@LoveYourRV2 жыл бұрын
Its still working very well, like it, they have updated the app a few times I guess with bug fixes, but the biggest update was to make it easier to find in a clip where the motion occurred they put an little icon in the video replay bar showing where to look. If you look at the bottom of this page you can see some video clops where I used the Home hawk footage to make some neat time lapses www.loveyourrv.com/panasonic-homehawk-window-camera-review-rv-security/

The app called Alfred allows you to use old cell phones in the same way. You set up a cell phone or in my case an old tablet in the window and then you can monitor it from computer or cell phone and also it uses motion sensor to take little 5 Second videos or until the motion stops every time something passes it takes video. And there's a section where you can review they're in files every half hour and they have a cover picture. Pretty easy to review the things that have passed in front of your camera and you can even send them.

Went to the Amazon website for the camera and it said unavailable. I guess that took care of that. But nice video. Like the camera. Like you said, could use it in the rear window of your rv to monitor what's happening behind you. Someone rear ends you or whatever. Again, great video.

The only issue with using as rear view is there is about a 1 second delay or so due to the WiFi transmission. Would be OK for slow back ups but on a fast highway may be a little bit weird.

@@LoveYourRV I agree it could be a problem. I will probably purchase a rear view camera for my Grand Design Reflection since it is prewired and based on your reviews. I didn't want another display in the truck but I may not have a choice. My 2016 Super Duty does not have additional inputs for cameras like newer ones.

As a security camera, not having cloud storage means the thieves just steal the whole camera. It would be REALLY nice if you could choose any of a number of cloud services you may already be a user of. A great looking display and sensitive camera to be sure, but most security cameras are able to see closer to the rig. I might buy it for just recording what is going on outside (game), but I will also need a proper security camera. Very strange it has WiFi access to send notifications yet no cloud support, maybe another model is coming?
@LoveYourRV4 жыл бұрын
I think they designed this one to be easy to use and install, so limited features. Likely targeting a different market segment that the regular security camera systems out there. Seems to have worked they sold out quick and are trying to restock.

Funny how people complain about cloud storage and cost associated with it. You'd probably pass on Panasonic's cloud offering if they offered or had one. Would be pretty expensive.

There IS a way to download from your camera to a PC without taking out the SD card. etc.. Connect your phone to the PC with a data USB cable, access the folder on your phone where the clips are stored and transfer them to the PC. So, you CAN download them, just using the phone as an intermediary.
@LoveYourRV2 жыл бұрын
Yes, thanks for mentioning it. Panasonic was able to add the download clip to phone feature into the software sometime after this video review was published. In early software versions, it couldn't be done. At the same time, they added the ability to jump straight to the person's motion detected in the video clip, prior you had to watch the whole clip. Cheers, Ray

@aitutaki984 жыл бұрын
Totally off topic but what are your plans for the winter?
@LoveYourRV4 жыл бұрын
@@aitutaki98 Many people have been asking me if we will be heading, or can we even head south, as usual, this fall. And the short answer is no. So far, the border remains closed to non-essential travelers, and with Anne's condition, it would take a drastic turn around in the way things currently are for us to consider it. So we have booked an RV site here on Vancouver Island, BC, and will spend the fall and winter at least and reevaluated things come 2021. That means I get to learn all about cold weather west coast camping. :) I already have ordered myself a quality dehumidifier, and I'm researching skirting for the rig, heated hoses, etc. So, stay tuned for more about that as we get into the fall months. At least we will have a pretty view for storm watching! We are, of course, sad to not be back in the desert this winter and will be missing all our fellow snowbirds and American pals. :( But, it will be interesting to see what the estuary and Campbell River area is like in the opposite season. I'm sure we will get out and visit the surrounding forests, parks, and lakes, or do some boondocking Vancouver Island style, especially once the summer camping throngs subside a bit. This has been an extremely busy camping season in these parts.

What if burglar smiled at the camera, broke in, took everything and the camera, what evidence do you still have?
@LoveYourRV3 жыл бұрын
No evidence, you would be out of luck at that point. You need a security cam that uploads footage to cloud based storage for that case. The HomeHawk window cam doesn't have that ability. Though it is kind of hard to spot so I'd assume many thieves would miss it.
