Once you find out that you can parry Lu Bu, the game becomes totally different. I had no idea that you could guard at the right time and parry Lu Bu's regular attacks and just beat him down. Makes the encounter much more fun.

It becomes a bit easier but some attacks at easier to parry than others and if you mess the parry time you'll take big damage in hero mode.

Yeah he can still snuff you out in two to three hits, but it feels better that when you learn how to parry and punish for his mistakes the fight feels more even despite how outmatched you are.

Dood… do u kno how important and funny it is that u put in the title We Pursued Lubu? Me and my best friend played Dynasty Warriors 3 for the first time on ps3, and we would get to this one part in DW3 where Lubu would come out in a ice snow type level, and it told us “Do NOT pursue Lubu” we pursued him and died in 3 hits. We would always replay the level as we got stronger to see if we could take him down. It took us almost til the end of the game, with full level to beat him. Mind you, we yank the difficulty up to level up quicker. My buddy was Guan Yu and I was Lui Bei. We FINALLY beat him, but that haunting message “do NOT pursue Lubu” stuck with us and we’re now 2 yrs away from 40 yrs old. I just sent him this vid and he sent me “🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂🤣” in return. A good tip is after getting the 5 buns from the base, take over an enemy base afterwards to set a spawn point so when you die, you can respawn without needing to go back to get the buns.

When Wo Long came out, I honestly thought it was a litmus test for a new Dynasty Warriors game. They pretty much had the same characters (Zhao Yun, Guan Yu, etc.), but in a new perspective with this Dark Souls / demonic-type atmosphere. So I think Koei & Omega Force wanted to bring something different to the table of Warriors-like games because the formula has been overused for so many years, thus they worked with Team Ninja and made a new format. Origins is just the result of that retooling through Wo Long.

You might be right. Wo Long stuff is given as a preorder bonus, so they're clearly thinking about it at the same time.

Technically, the formula was there if you played Dynasty Warriors 9. There was a skill that made it DmC, but many things ruined it for people to play up to getting the skill.

@@anon1692 -- The issue with DW9 was that they changed the formula waaaayyyyy too much and it completely bombed. Like you said, "IF you played Dynasty Warriors 9." I looked at the gameplay and reviews and I said "NOPE. NOT BUYING THIS." I am a massive Dynasty Warriors / Samurai Warriors / Sengoku Basara fanatic, but that game was completely devoid of so much of its identity and it was quite sad to me.

Played the demo earlier today on wayfarer. I've played other dynasty warriors games before, starting with 4, the game was pretty good towards this bit. It was mostly the usual hack and slash with more tactical elements. But the moment Lu Bu showed up, it was a full on Soulslike. I spent an hour trying to defeat him, and I felt like a chad when I finally did. I don't think the full game will have you NEEDING to beat Lu Bu, that's usually not required of you early on at Hu Lao gate.

Just played the demo, and the very first time I tried any DW game..reached Lu Bu, and came straight here for a rewatch...(after some deaths) the game has a good instant hook..some mechanisms were lost on me, like Bravery and R1 skills relation..dodging, etc... will learn..

Glad to see this series embracing fast pace and the OTT fights again. I dipped out on the series back when 6 revamped everything and took out unique character weapons and movesets and just got progressively worse with each new installment from what I've seen.

This is a very different game now, dw9 was pretty bad. This one is a lot better but they removed most of the roster and we still aren't getting the old weapons. DW8 Xtreme legends was the last traditional dynasty warriors game, It will be missed

I'm sure they buff him up for the demo so players have something to keep playing. Monster Hunter demo sometimes did this too. Likely in the game it will be easier or you have option to run.

This fight will not be in the full game, it's just for the demo. Lu Bu doesn't actually appear in this battle at all. When he appears later and is this strong, he will be optional, you can just ignore him. Anytime you're forced to fight and beat him, he's way easier. It has always been this way in DW.

He's not that OP. Granted, Max is above average in terms of gaming skills. However, Max fights Lu Bu with no clue of what the buttons do. It only took him 1+ hour to beat Lu Bu. Plus, the difficulty option can be toned down if Wayfarer is too much for you. Also, FYI : 1. This fight don't exist. Lu Bu first appearance (not counting Cao Cao assassination attempt on Dong Zhuo) is on Hu Lao gate and this is Si Shui gate. This fight is just to show how well the combat system is. 2. The Lu Bu fight in Hu Lao gate (usually, this is the OP-iest Lu Bu) is almost always optional. Your direction is to circle around him to get to Dong Zhuo. 3. The only time we have to fight Lu Bu is on Xia Pi. Even then, this battle is only participated by Wei and Shu. So if you go with Wu, you'll definitely won't face Lu Bu. So there you go. There are lot of options for you to not fight Lu Bu.
