Just finished my first tassle and it turned out perfect. I had the tassle maker for a while, but it kind of scared me to just try it out. Thanks for the video. I did not use the twisted cord since I want to sew the tassles to the corners of a crochet scarf. I did not had a wide tooth comb here, so I used a fork to straighten out the strings. It worked great.

Thanks so much for the demo, esp for the tassel and how to attach it to the loop. Now I think I may be able to save the Mala necklace I'm 1/3 of the way done knotting. I attached the tassel at the center of the thread in the beginning, but I decided I hate the tassel. The cord is too thick and stiff. Hoping I can attach the necklace to a new tassel the way you attached your loop to your tassel. Thanks again!

Of course if it's tough on the left hand, I suppose holding the threads in your left hand and turning with your right hand, as long as it's consistent with the S or Z lean of the yarn's ply?

I have the Boye tassel and pompom maker set. It cost $20 at Joann's and is a total waste of money. I think I will have to get these and donate the other set to my local thrift store. Maybe someone can make them work better.

I really don't like tassels because they turn into ratted balls even when you're careful in washing the item. Any suggestions?

Nikki make them so the can come off the item easy and skip the washer all together, and or gently hand wash your item with tassels and hang to dry. Depending on the size of you tassels you could try and cover them in a bit of nylon stocking beforehand so the threads don't get too tangled by washing them. I keep old stockings around for all sorts of odd jobs around the house, you could also try rubber bands around the fring end or some other methond of binding. Remove anything that you used to protect your tassel carefully and, comb out and reshape the tassles while they're still wet, hang to dry. Never place in dryer. Hope those suggestions help 😉
