You can also make the loop from the piece of thread you use to tie the strands together. To do this, just make your knot from a doubled piece of thread, leaving the closed end the right length for your loop. That way, everything is tied together and it can't possibly pull out. You can then use the open ends of the loop to make the wrap-around part at the end. Instead of having the loop come out kind of on the sides, you can use a needle to feed it through the center of the wrapped tassel.
