Not sure if Howard’s view is clear on everything, but it’s clear to me that there’s enough there to put work into trying his ideas out. This is a truly impressive drone design. Thank you to Howard and to the implementers who made this happen
@derrypowell90923 ай бұрын
Completely agree. As an engineer in space industry I don't fully grasp his ideas and they sound out of this world but he has some fascinating principals that are definitely worth studying and reviewing. His theory for unifying the forces is something worth an in-depth look. If I headed a department in technology and science at a university or military I would give his team a shot and put him against a group of consensus scientists to check the validity of the research and follow its evolution. Who knows what it could inspire others to. That is what science is supposed to be. We should dare follow uncharted territories because who knows where they lead. If Terrence cannot get interest in US he should go to Russia or China they are more open minded to stuff that are out of the box, they are focus more on achievement and purpose driven than whether it fits a narrative, or helps careers and curriculums for financial reasons. We are clearly reaching the limits of current science, fusion is stalling, string theory is stalling, quantum is stalling, we are only improving on past discoveries, it's time for Crazy sparks.
@anonymousbosch92653 ай бұрын
@@derrypowell9092what kind of engineering degree do you have that you can’t immediately understand this is nonsense with zero predictive power? He says gravity is fake, the sun gives birth to the planets, the red spot on Jupiter is becoming a moon using the same process a biological organism uses to digest and excrete food, the periodic table is wrong because hydrogen what everything is actually made from, he claimed to make a predictive model of Saturn forming and it was just a picture of Saturn made from dots. I don’t want to call you out as a fraud if you’re a well meaning professional who’s been duped but I implore you to be more critical and skeptical about anyone’s claims
@derrypowell90923 ай бұрын
@@anonymousbosch9265 I think you did not understand my comment or I did not express myself properly for you to understand. With the current knowledge I have of current science it's hard to grasp his hypothesis and principals because they don't align with most actual theories and because he tended to rap it out as he sees it in his mind and it was not always clear to an outside observer (at linguistic level). I also said some of it was out of this world meaning far out-of-the-box. Both would suggest I don't fully adhere to his ideas and principals thus I am skeptical, that said some of what he says sounds sensical and coherent and there is some fascinating stuff in there especially about the table of Mendeleev and the re-arrangement in function of resonance to frequencies. The ideas of curvature over linearity are also interesting and are common in relativity and gravity theories. As a scientist or engineer if you cannot be fascinated by this and wanting to review and study his claims than you should not be a scientist or engineer. I could also reply that you should be more skeptical of what is known today in science and not take all of that for granted just because it's stated by some "trust worthy institution". Hubble and Webb telescope have proven many theories wrong regarding physics and astrophysics. Relativity theories and Quantum theories were not well received at first by the authorities and peers in general physics back in the days, which then was based solely on premise of Newtonian/Kepler physics, but those newer theories allowed to explain phenomenons Newtonian physics could not and predict many things we know today. And till this day the realm of Quantum and general physics, which now includes relativity theory and gravity, are separate and hard to blend or mesh and still live side by side. FYI Gravity does not fit in the Quantum Theories and they still have not find a way to properly explain gravity with Quantum theories, thus in essence gravity does not exist in that realm. So why could his theory not coexist with the others while not fit in it and still explain certain unknowns that we cannot explain with current knowledge? We still have so much to learn about life and the universe, and scientist are surprised every day with new discoveries, that closing out any new ideas is retrograde and does not help human kind forward on the contrary.

Hmm. It’s very interesting. And kinda cool. But I don’t understand the ultimate point / advantage of it. The “frame never getting in the way of the camera” is nice for sure. But I suspect you could get the same outcome by simply mounting multiple (2? 3? 4?) cameras around a more conventional frame. Cameras weigh a lot less than rotors!! (… and multiple cameras would also generate better depth perception?) The joining together (2D or 3D) of multiple separate drones into a single big unified drone is something that could easily be done with many other frame shapes. BUT surely the Lynchpin is a much less efficient user of power, no? Has anyone chatted about this? The Lynchpin seems to work by being told a desired direction and then using an efficient subset of the 6 rotors to contribute to achieving that direction (sum of vectors). The number of rotors that, at any time, are truly perpendicular to the direction (rotor at the perfect angle) will always be any inefficiently aligned rotor will generate (i) a vector along the line of the desired direction (with rotors often needing to reverse direction) + (ii) an orthogonal vector representing “everything else”. ==> all of the (ii) vectors would be : - adding huge frictions in the air by generating unwanted drag / wind-shear which would greatly reduce the achievable max speed of the unit (plus other issues with movement), & - therefore wasting (lots of) battery life. I guess you could repurpose some of the output of the (ii) vectors to execute desired yawing and suchlike. But it would not utilise much of the combined (ii) inefficiencies at all, and the maths for this repurposing would add lots of additional complexity to the drone flight system compared with a conventional design. I don’t get it. What am I missing?
@orionpax4353 ай бұрын
imagine needing power for a floating aircraft carrier and placing this technology inside the body. 6 of the directions would perfectly carry the craft and hover it with minimal negative gravitational affects. Add in solar tech and ionic wind tech and make it even better. Same for underwater applications and getting satallites halfway to orbit without so much fuel, etc.....Thats my imagination just from reading your statement.

Who is Terrance Howard He is an actor (Iron Man, others) but apparently a friggen genius. He did a Oxford Union talk 6 years ago which I saw for the first time 2 days ago. But I saw a snippet from that talk one or two days before. It is awesome what he is talking about. It has to do with math yes but it is way deeper. There is a guy named Randall Carlson who is like a freelance investigator who is into geology and paleontology. He has been studying structures like the Sphynx, The Pyramids, caves and cave art etc., river bed formations and actually the destruction of land surfaces in America and around the world for 40 years. He delves into what generally has been described as “religions” as well. He is also into what he has found to be described in many of these structures: Sacred Geometry. This is what Terrance Howard describes in his talk about the “flower of life”. It is fascinating.
@ddegn4 ай бұрын
There's nothing shown in the video that defies the laws of mathematics or physics. Lynchpin is a cool but inefficient drone. You could get most of the benefits by using a normal drone and a 3-axis gimbal. There are likely a few applications where the Lynchpin design makes sense to use but most aerial video applications would be better off using a conventional drone.
@user-pd5ot4zd4b4 ай бұрын
@@ddegn yep, I'm struggling to think of an application beyond maybe the rolling camera platform demonstrated. And "bonding" these things together is a non-starter outside a video game. Edit: hmm, maybe a continuous laser target designator or yagi antenna director for something that's transiting above to below, etc? though there seems to be stability hiccups when handing off thrust between facets, i dunno. EditEdit: So I went ahead an read the whitepaper. This hiccup may be address though propulsion - adjustable/reversible pitch props instead of reversing rotation? Not clear. Seems like no ones sure what to do with the modular bonding stuff - land on shapes, catch a ball maybe? If you assemble an ad hoc structure, not sure when will inter-drone interference or top-heavy dead weight would be a problem, but maybe you could unfurl a reflector or similar?
@ddegn4 ай бұрын
@@user-pd5ot4zd4b Thanks for the info. I haven't read the white paper myself. There are a couple of quadcopters with variable pitch blades (I have one myself). These types of quads (variable pitch) have smoother transitions to inverted flight than quads which have to reverse motor direction. Of course this ability comes a the cost of efficiency. Variable pitch blades generally don't have the added twist which makes normal propellers work better than their variable pitch blades. You can only add twist for one direction of motion. The Lynchpin has to carry around a bunch of extra weight (in motors) which isn't contributing to thrust. There's a reason no one uses the design commercially. A gimbal is so much more practical.

Yes, while these hard working (though unnecessary) underlings are making models fly, Terrance is doing the heavy lifting, as it were, refactoring the firmware - for months he's been debugging why, when he sets "MaxThrust = (1 * 1)" , the measured thrust stays the same instead of doubling. This has delayed production indefinitely and is why linchpins are not seen hoisting 55 gallon drums of liquid gold proton bonding compound W.
