I have a few ideas. 1. Social media regulations should decrease democracy because you are basically censoring people. 2. A total ban of social media should decrease technology. 3. At this moment lifespan only really has negative effects, so maybe lifespan should increase everyone's happiness or at least the happiness of the retired. Because knowing that you will probably get very old makes most people happy.

Question 1: Will there be Many ways to deal with Social Media addiction? Question 2:Will age Demography have a bigger on the game? Age Demography is the main problem of South Korea and Japan. Both of which are in The Game. Question 3: I heard someone say that D4 doesn't have a lot of Policies that deal with Long term problems, Like the Rare Earth Crisis. Will that be Fixed?

Maybe for Democracy 5, you could add the option of continuing to play after losing the election, and also the option of playing as an opposition party, similar to Power & Revolution
@Luke-tt3dt2 жыл бұрын
One thing that could be added to the game to influence mental health is financial security, which would sort of be an amalgamation of different factors like personal savings, job security, worker's rights and notice periods/at-will employment (something else I'd like to see added to the game). The gig economy event would naturally have a significant negative effect on job security. But it could also have a negative effect on productivity, as people aren't going the extra mile for fear of being fired, which would be offset by good mental health resulting in higher productivity State-funded talking therapies should also be implemented in the game, or you could go the old-fashioned authoritarian route and lock people up in psychiatric institutions.

I wonder if there should be more effects of high/low Mental Health, might be difficult since IRL different mental conditions can lead to different effects and they're all being grouped together here, but it seems reasonable to say that low Mental Health would have a tangible impact on both Health and Productivity. Even though Health has its own output for Productivity, it kind of makes sense that both would impact Productivity since, for example, if someone's chronic anxiety lead to a stress-related heart attack, they're now suffering a loss in productivity from both the heart attack and the original mental heath issue.

Hello Cliff Big fun of the game. I've bought all of your titles since D3. Enjoyed each of them. However I have one serious gripe and that is arbitrary caps. Very often I find myself maxxing out values like Health and Technology or Education which makes my further policies for advancing them meaningless. I strongly reccomend altering the functions to introduce a "diminishing returns" system (mathematically the simpest way to do that, that I can think of, would be a sigmoid function) in order to accurately represent a "leveling off effect" where compounding policies are rendered less effective but not useless. Another issue I encountered was the very strange way income groups and income focus groups are ccalculated; I had people with HUGE disposable incomes in the "poor" bracket... In an ideal world, I'd like to see a rehaul on the functions of certain simulation values and social classes. However I understand these changes may be difficult to push through and I'm sure you are doing your best. Keep at it, you've got something here. P.S. Universal Basic Income really should improve overall happiness. P.S.2 If you do ever try to overhaul wealth classes, I think a few "Income Inequality" metrics demarkating the differences in social class could come in handy to increase realism and immersion. These would track how poor, mi and wealthy citizens differ and scale all effects based on income accordingly. Societies with cabals of the few extremely wealthy should be radically affected by anti-wealth policies, like a high luxary tax, while societies where the wealthy are a large portion of the population representing merely the upper crust of the middle classes should have all such effects scaled back. Alternatively you could track membership/loyalty of a population to these groups live, so that a huge number of well off people, elevated often by the players egalitarian governance, do not go berserk over absurd luxary taxes because they are programmed to belong in a billionaries interest group. Societies that are highly socialist and that spread their wealth should result in multiple citizens on the upper crust of the middle classes having a small loyalty to the "wealthy" bracket, with perhaps a few more on the medium side, not to 30% of their population (can be as absurd as 80% if you abuse UBI), who are all socialists by the way, suddently acting on the interest metrics of Jeff Bezos.

Hey Cliff, I have a question. The current implementation of the “genital mutilation ban” policy makes no sense, in my opinion. To my knowledge, FGM is already banned in all the countries in the game irl, but for some reason it is not banned in-game at the start. On top of that, banning FGM seems to really piss off religious and conservatives. That just doesn’t make sense. Why should this be the case in western societies where FGM is not traditionally practised? If anything, I think Christians would be angered by FGM’s being legalised, and not the other way around. May I ask what are the reasons for this?
@jobarin19942 жыл бұрын
Arguably ethnic minorities could be made to feel pissed off for banning FGM. But religious? in Europe? I don’t get it
@positechgames2 жыл бұрын
@@jobarin1994 As I recall we renamed this, so its not just female. The policy is set up to also allow you to ban male circumcision, which I suspect would be extremely unpopular with certain religious groups?
@jobarin19942 жыл бұрын
Oh alright. I though there had to be some reasoning behind it. And yet in that case I find it odd that the policy should boost gender equality, which maybe shouldn’t be the case when the policy is affecting men primarily, as the current implementation would imply. On the other hand, the percentage of jewish population in some of the countries in the game is extremely low (notably Spain) and doesn’t justify such a hit on religious support. I wonder whether ethnic minorities wouldn’t be a better group overall to represent the groups affected by this policy.

You set the difficulty of the United States too low. The policy presets should definitely be adjusted for a more believable difficulty. With the US having the most overblown military budget in the world, foreign policy should have anything short of conscription and religious indoctrination that’s military related like the border navy and drone program should be set to maximum, National Armed Forces day set to maximum (Veterans Day and Memorial Day) with The national trade council already set to maximum (refer to the existence of the US Chamber of Commerce). On the law & order side the US should also have torture activated, indefinite detentions (refer to Guantánamo Bay), moderate taser usage, use of teargas, use of water hoses, all police armed, prisons set to the second-highest of harsh treatment (Orange is The New Black wasn’t just a TV show) and social media regulated to age. There should also be other issues similar to media monopoly like “military industrial complex”, “prison industrial complex” “oil industry monopoly” and “pharmaceutical monopoly” which holds influence over both political parties that have all run out of control for decades impacting the democracy rating, giving little accountability to those who hold or held high office, and corruption through legalized bribery called “lobbying”, with plutocracy and oligarchy. Although socialism has gotten more popular among Americans in recent years, capitalists still hold plenty of power as a disconnected ruling minority. Gerrymandering (which can also be applied to France) and the electoral college needs to play a role as well. The US has been considered a flawed democracy for a fifth year in a row for a reason. Spain, South Korea and Japan have more democracy by comparison. The only playable nation that’s considered more flawed than the US is Italy, and their difficulty is considerably high.
@aturchomicz8213 жыл бұрын
Same could be said for Germany, like why isnt there a State Funded health Service or a Curfew for anyone under the Age of 16? Also the US had a distinct feel in Dem 2/3 because it had the Technological Advantage from the very start like why is that not a thing anymore?
@CPT853 жыл бұрын
@@aturchomicz821 I want to say because of the military budget having an impact on that, it’s nod to how technological innovations come from war. But this is a bit of a catch 22 because military manufacturing companies overcharge the taxpayers for profit. In some cases, single pieces of equipment cost 80 times more their worth. To make matters worse, measurements for the military budget is always passed with bipartisan support showing the PMCs grip on the party duopoly. Leaves me wondering how Italy has things worse… 🤔
