Hurricane Helene tears through the southeastern United States as scientists say climate change rapidly intensifies hurricanes. The storm devastated large swaths of the southeastern United States after making landfall in Florida as a Category 4 storm. Officials say the death toll is likely to rise, as many are still missing. Helene is expected to be one of the costliest hurricanes in U.S. history and was fueled by abnormally warm water in the Gulf of Mexico, but most of the media coverage has failed to connect the devastation to the climate crisis. "The planet's overheating. It's irreversible. It's caused by the fossil fuel industry," says climate activist and climate scientist Peter Kalmus in Raleigh, North Carolina. "This will get worse as the planet continues to get hotter."

Spot on! The Pentagon uses more petroleum per day than the aggregate consumption of 175 countries (out of 210 in the world), and generates more than 70 percent of this nation’s total greenhouse gas emissions, based on rankings in the CIA World Factbook. “The U.S. Air Force burns through 2.4 billion gallons of jet fuel a year, all of it derived from oil,” reported an article in the Scientific American. Best to you~

People literally do not understand how food gets their table it can go from one year you can grow crops to the next year you cannot just that quickly that's it you can wind up with no food supply almost overnight. This is not a joke this is the reality and this is how come this is so extremely important think of the wars it would create if everybody's out of food

We are living through the end of an ice age. Of course carbon emissions have been accelerating this, but to think this is totally man made or even half is quite silly. Far worse weather events occurred at times when humans hadn't even discovered the wheel yet. As far as the "biblical" thing goes, it's not just the abrahamic faiths that have a flood story. Almost all cultures have a great flood origin story. Probably because it's something humanity has actually survived long ago. Anatomically modern humans (what we are) have existed for half a million years. There's no doubt in my mind that we've been through cataclysm. We are subject to forces beyond our control. Maybe you don't believe in the spiritual, but in a material sense we are subject to the forces of the planets in our solar system and the cosmos at large. It's all connected. We should do everything we can to prepare no doubt. Just understand that mother nature is beyond our control. I know Republicans make a great scape goat but we've had devastating weather like this long before the industrial revolution.

Year after Year I have witnessed first hand record temperatures in the Phoenix Area and throughout the West. The accumulative number of 90 Degree, 100 Degree and 110+ days each year, obliterating previous records the past couple years and prior... It was 117 Degrees this week just few days before October, and temperatures nearing or exceeding 110 Degrees forecasted for at least another week. The norms this time of year used to be in the 90's. This years heat far surpassed last year's, which surpassed the prior years... (Continued Below) Imagine the increased demands for electricity to power all the air conditioning just in this area alone for Businesses, Homes, Schools, Hospitals, Manufacturing and other "High Demand" requirements. Now multiply that exponentially across the country with other areas also experiencing hotter temperatures for long periods of time. More usage requires more power, which adds more pollution leading to worse conditions in the future. It's a "Feedback Loop" that never ends without intervention. This isn't a new problem it goes back decades. A few might remember the "Black-Out" in New York July 13th-14th in 1977. Think about a wider spread power disruption in large Metropolitan Areas across the country in the hottest periods of the year and for longer periods of time. Death Tolls would be "Massive", and the number of "Heat-Related Illnesses" would be catastrophic for medical facilities in those areas. Massive losses of revenue would occur should Manufacturing be halted during such a disruption. Other impacts would be felt "Far & Wide" I worked for several years at SEL (Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories) a huge manufacturer of Power Generation and Distribution Equipment Internationally. The Nation's "Power Grid" can only deliver the power that is generated or stored. Though big Improvements to the technologies used the manage the delivery of power in this country and abroad have improved over the years, the demands keep rising. The reservoirs used to hold water for electricity generation at our nation's many dams continue to be depleted, and with more frequent and longer lasting "Drought Events" the future seems to be a very serious problem for many... Though flooding is becoming more and more frequent and extreme, little has been done in the big scheme of things, to manage this water storage to handle future needs, resulting in ever increasing damage and destruction to populated areas, agriculture and loss of life... Projects should have been implemented throughout the years to work at planning for and solving the problem in the future, but instead "Profit" over "Investment" has been the norm for those massive companies operating and "Raking in Money" to supply the need for electricity. These projects required Investment, which some has been made to improve the infrastructure of the "Power Grid", I believe not nearly enough has been accomplished. When was the last "Major" Dam Project like the "Hoover Dam" (Boulder) completed in 1936 or "Roosevelt Dam" completed in 1911 and expanded in 1989? Instead of preparing for the increasing demands, and destructive "Natural Disasters" caused by overwhelming flooding events, the massive companies and corporations have continued to profit and raise electricity rates for millions. How many times have you seen "Dam Failures and Breaches" in recent times? So little is done to improve and maintain the aging vital infrastructure. Current Water Management of the rivers in the West, like the Colorado River, is not prepared for a future of such demand for increased power and more importantly the precious fresh drinking water needed to supply the increasing number of inhabitants of states like Arizona, California and Nevada, as well as the huge demand for Agriculture in those same states. More demand of the Aquifers of "Ground Water" in these areas is leading to rapid depletion. This depletion in turn leads to a vast change of the structure of the ground above the massive voids left when the water is no longer present below. "Sink-Holes", and "Quakes" are typical results, and a depleted store of such important water. It's hard to watch such 'Destruction" and "Death" caused by the more frequent floods, knowing that despite the vast quantities of water destroying Homes, Businesses, Manufacturing, Agriculture and most importantly people's lives, it will do little to mitigate the droughts in our future. A product of these extended droughts is clearly seen in the ever-increasing Wildfires across the West. Natural "Watersheds" provided by the forests destroyed are also eliminated, causing increased "Run-off" during periods of heavy rain only adding to the frequent "Flood Events" going forward. Where does it all end I ask? If the "Urgency To Do Something" I foresee in the future as conditions worsen would have been felt years prior maybe the "Worse to Come" could have been prevented... Earlier this year I watched documentaries exposing the "Increase of Ocean Water Temperatures" around Florida and other coastlines. Water the temperature of "Hot Tubs" in places, "The Warmest on Record". Drastic impacts to marine life, coral reefs and related environments resulted... This was a "Clear Warning" of what was to come, and guess what? This led to Increased energy and damage exerted by more and more frequent Hurricanes in those areas. Wasn't anyone paying attention?? If only those profiting so much from industries impacting the environment so drastically cared more about the "Situation" they're passing along to their children and future generations, as the do about money & profit, maybe something would change...

Only mainstream Modern science, and I emphasize MAINSTREAM MODERN science, is linear because it doesn't look far enough into the past or far enough into the distant future to see the cyclical nature of our immediate environment, the global environment , or the environment of our galaxy and universe. Everything has been dumbed down in our education system so everyone will be easier to manipulate and control; in the 60's and 70's the cyclical nature of the universe and our immediate environment was taught in the junior high and high school science classes.

Almost 300 miles inland and everything is wrecked….This isn’t normal and anyone who thinks it is, I’m sure you’re just sitting cozy far away from any of this…If your from hurricane and regular flood areas your town is ready for these kind of events…none of the towns in Appalachia were designed to handle this much water because its never dealt with this much water…we got 30in in 3 days…that’s more than we get in 8 months…let that sink in…everyone I know was prepared for the storm and we still are ALL suffering and are experiencing and unprecedented disaster.

Hurricanes and other natural disasters are a fact, and history shows it. BUT what we're seeing, is MORE storms like the one that impacted Galveston. It's getting more frequent. In my lifetime, I've seen a dozen huge storms that did millions or billions in damage,(Andrew, Katrina, Michael, Ivan, Ida, Fran, Isaac, Harvey, etc.) and the only thing that kept the death toll from reaching the tens of thousands, was modern predictions and warning systems. I've seen more than a few "storm of the century" claims on winter blizzards. And all that before you count tornados, wildfires, ice events, and droughts. Climate change does happen naturally. But what we're experiencing isn't natural. Natural changes happen over tens of thousands of years--not one century. Natural shifts are slow, and the environment has time to adapt. What we're seeing is going to alter life on Earth. If we don't slow it down, we're going to lose human life on Earth, and a lot of animal species as well.

Few people really care about climate change- just stating a fact. When people care about something they sacrifice for it. Those who want to make money from fossil fuels are willing to kill for the privilege. Those who care about maintaining humanity in a sustainable mode are willing to hold up signs. It's not a fair fight in terms of motivation. People are motivated by money, by enriching their families with dynastic wealth. I think this motivation, though irrational in its proportions (you don't need millions to provide for your family), is just stronger than the more abstract motivations of saving the planet. Saving the planet isn't an evolved animalistic impulse like aggregating wealth is. I'm sorry, but the fossil fuel industry is not going to stop because people are just not willing to do what it takes to stop them. It's time to turn to mitigation strategies and time to stop being hopelessly idealistic.

Even if you don't believe climate change is caused by humans. The reality of the situation is that we need significant change in order to mitigate loss. Rebuilding in flood, storm,or drought prone areas is not gonna help or having the shitty infrastructure that we have currently in this country. All our current infrastructure is aging and falling apart so we can't even deal with this"natural increase in climate" that's bringing about truly adverse weather. So whether you wanna believe it's man made or not, actions need to be taken to adjust to changing climate and weather, or we're gonna suffer needlessly. It's as simple as that either we move our future cities farther from the coast or better weatherproof them or let them be 25 feet underwater and act surprised like we didn't know it was possible.

These companies are pushing exactly the same narrative as other oil companies. What’s needed is complete removal of state subsidies. These companies doesn’t develop any revolutionary new technologies or new markets. They just don’t want to compete on an open market with renewables. The fossil energy chains are so wasteful and inefficient that oil production has to be energy subsidised to survive. This trend is global and will only increase.

There are four problems with this argument. First of all yes we have had some very nasty storms. What weather does not equal climate and never has. When we talked about damage estimates most people don't do comparison year to year and adjust for inflation. And more than that what we build today cost more because we put more into it we have more wires and cabling we have more safety standards that are required in things we have to use certain types of plumbing and not cheaper things so a home that could have been repaired and replaced in the early 1900s can't be built in most jurisdictions today

This video title is intentionally single topic focused towards fossil fuels, yet say nothing ever about: 1) solar cycles and how the sun's activities affect our earth events; 2) government funded continuous geo-engineering that takes place in MULTIPLE COUNTRIES INCLUDING THE USA, which affects the weather; and 3) how chemical compounds (that aren't energy related fossil fuel corporations) are and have been used for decades that also contaminate the ozone layer. I watched different local MSM channels and independent channels/media covered the hurricane. How much coverage is sufficient for you to be satisfied?

#37&9 America had two years of brutal economy destroying Lockdown in which fossil fuel consumption was reduced beyond Greta' s dreams. CO2 kept increasing and temperatures warming (in their synthetic climate models). *That proves **_scientifically_** that a Carbon Tax will HAVE NO EFFECT and will only benefit The Blöb!*

This interview is actually living proof that DN is a globalist funded fake pro peace indy news program. Is it any wonder Amy Goodman is banned from multiple countries such as Indonesia and Egypt. The climate hoax is promoted by the billionaire elite class. So how can she be promoting it if she is for the little people?

Most yall have lost your minds over C.C. if you think every hurricane is caused by C.C. Cat 4 and 5 hurricanes have always hit the Gulf Coast, and their were about 2 or 3 times as many 4 or 5 super hurricanes that hit Florida or the gulf coast from 1995 to 2005 then have hit us during the last 10yrs. In fact in just the year 2004-2005 we had 5 of them yet then immediately afterwards from 2006-2016 ONLY 3 Major Hurricanes struck us, so there is no pattern of having stronger + more being produced by warmer ocean waters. Sure! Here are all of the major hurricanes that hit the United States between 1994 and 2006: Hurricane Opal (1995) - Made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 hurricane. Hurricane Fran (1996) - Struck North Carolina as a Category 3 hurricane. Hurricane Georges (1998) - Hit the Gulf Coast, particularly Mississippi and Alabama, as a Category 2 hurricane. Hurricane Floyd (1999) - Made landfall in North Carolina as a Category 2 hurricane. Hurricane Charley (2004) - Struck Florida as a Category 4 hurricane. Hurricane Ivan (2004) - Made landfall in Alabama as a Category 3 hurricane. Hurricane Jeanne (2004) - Hit Florida as a Category 3 hurricane. Hurricane Katrina (2005) - Devastated Louisiana and Mississippi as a Category 3 hurricane. Hurricane Rita (2005) - Struck Texas and Louisiana as a Category 3 hurricane. Hurricane Wilma (2005) - Made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 hurricane. While the next 10 years from 2006-2016 only had 3 such storms hit: Hurricane Ike (2008) - Made landfall in Texas as a Category 2 hurricane. Hurricane Irene (2011) - Struck the East Coast, particularly North Carolina and New York, as a Category 1 hurricane. Hurricane Sandy (2012) - Hit the Northeast, including New Jersey and New York, as a post-tropical cyclone with hurricane-force winds. And then in 2017 there is 3 of them in that 1 year followed by the historical normal rate from last 200 yrs. of about 1 every year. Hurricane Harvey (2017) - Made landfall in Texas as a Category 4 hurricane, causing catastrophic flooding. Hurricane Irma (2017) - Struck Florida as a Category 4 hurricane. Hurricane Maria (2017) - Impacted Puerto Rico as a Category 4 hurricane. Hurricane Michael (2018) - Made landfall in Florida as a Category 5 hurricane. Hurricane Dorian (2019) - Affected the Carolinas as a Category 1 hurricane after devastating the Bahamas. Hurricane Laura (2020) - Struck Louisiana as a Category 4 hurricane. Hurricane Ida (2021) - Made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 4 hurricane. Hurricane Ian (2022) - Hit Florida as a Category 4 hurricane. Hurricane Beryl (2024) - The first major hurricane of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season.

It astounds me that people can't even be bothered to take the most basic steps to help mitigate what's happening.
