I was a conservative pretty similar to Tim in my beliefs. I believed big government was a road to unfreedom, and that American institutions were a force for good. But it wasn’t the big government Libs who caved to authoritarianism, it was the so called Libertarians and conservatives. Some of us didn’t, but our ideology bred this movement. When the left emphasized that our policies bred class division and racial divide, they were right. When the left critiqued libertarianism by countering that corporate oligarchs were a more real threat to democracy, they were right. When the left said that an ideological loyalty to the markets exacerbated inequality and bred social discord, they were right. Billionaires bought this election by masquerading as working class, promising a false solution to problems they helped create. There is a place for small c conservatism going forward, but it’s going to have to be in defense of reformed institutions, not in defense of yesterday’s institutions”

The child tax credit which raised poor children out of poverty was abandoned after the pandemic. How sickening. Where are the Dems? It reminds me of that poor little matchstick girl freezing to death on Christmas eve as she sees the rich families feast through the window. Our country has the values of Scrooge from top to bottom. Those people will eventually face judgment for their sin.

Dems Tried to keep that credit, but Republicans said "No!". We should try to hold our elected officials accountable. I know that is hard to do when you are hungry, but now people are going to be even hungrier. I respect this speaker. However, VP Harris didn't desert working class values. Reducing the cost of groceries by going after companies for price gouging. Kroger said their CEO made $19 million last year and they increase the cost of basic necessities like eggs milk bread higher than the rate of inflation. That is a problem and corporations are happy that Donald Trump will allow them to continue doing things like this. While laying off and paying workers less because the CEO is going to continue to make his $19 million. Democrats wanted to keep the Affordable Care Act for families, $25,000 to buy a house, $50,000 start a business, the CHIPS ACT remaining, women's body autonomy so women can find a doctor to get preventative healthcare, support for public education, increasing the minimum wage, support for unions over corporations, increase the tax on the wealthy and not people making less than $400,000 a year, the wealthy pay into Social Security longer than they do now, Social Security Medicare remaining as federal government programs and not privatized, etc. Elon Musk is the wealthiest person in this country. Government subsidies made him the wealthiest. The tech billionaires and JD Vance helped Elon Musk buy an election. Bernie Sanders said that VP Harris lost because she did not solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Men haven't solved that since 1948. White fear and ignorance are why VP Harris lost the election.
